1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup. Truck is a one-owner Texas truck with original title in-hand. Fresh motor and automatic
transmission. Motor and transmission are out of a 1987 C-10 Pickup. 305 motor was professionally rebuilt, bored 30
over, mild cam, and rebuilt heads. Also a freshly rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission with shift kit. On top of the
motor is a 650cfm Holley Carb and nicely polished Chevrolet Bowtie Valve Covers. Top has been chopped 5 inches.
Tilt steering. Brand new glass (which also had to be custom cut) the whole way around. 12v electric harness
conversion, new radiator and electric fan. The front clip of the truck is from a 1978 Mustang II and rear-end from
a 1986 Iroc-Z which gives the truck the lowered stance and advantages of front disc brakes and power steering. New
front grill, bumper, dash gauges, etc. H2 Hummer front bucket seats. Truck is 90% complete and while it's been
driven on the road several times over short distances, it needs fine tuning before it could be a daily driver. In
addition to the small stuff such as mirrors, interior door panels, headliner, etc. it's literally a newly built
truck and will need the steering aligned, transmission kick down cable installed, transmission cooling lines
installed (I have new ones that come with it), dash components installed (ash tray, glove box, etc. - I have the
originals, but you may want to get new ones), the bed of the truck could use some attention. While the wood is
nearly new, it wasn't properly installed and is bowing. I took some specific pictures of the wood bed so please
have a look. I washed the truck right before the pictures, so please note that while the wood appears finished,
it's only been stained (as it's wet in the pictures).
It's literally taken us seven years to finally get the truck to the point it is today and while we'd like to finish
it off, we simply have too many other priorities. The truck really needs someone to spend the time to properly
finely tune it to their liking. The hard part is done. As things sit now, the truck paint is new, but does have
some runs in it. I'd say it's at a 7 out of 10. I was told by the gentlemen that was painting it that it needed a
wet sand to knock off the runs (though not many). There's also some places on the body (around the cab and on the
hood - again, pictured) where there's some cracks in the paint. Though rough in spots, our plan was to patina the
truck which would build off its current character and really pull the entire truck together (not to mention add
value). The truck has been in three photo shoots, the first of which is in a published pinup girl magazine (a copy
comes with the sale). While the truck runs and drives, I think the starter is currently out as it won't turnover
(and battery is nearly new). I've been on international travel so haven't been able to look at it. With the sale of
the truck comes original title and original owner title sign-off, bill of sale from myself, a load of pictures from
the frame up restomod (I'll put them on a USB for you), electronic and printed copy of magazine publication, all
receipts I can locate, and nearly everything needed to complete the project (new windshield wipers, door handles,
etc.). Rare opportunity for a one owner truck. The truck is priced more than fairly. With a good patina and finish
off, the truck will make a great daily driver. Having it sit in the driveway has almost become a pain in that we're
often approached by individuals wanting to use it for a wedding, maternity, art, etc. photo shoots. Lots of
opportunity, just don't have the time and other priorities are pressing.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]

Wed, 15 May 2013

We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
