1997 Chevy S10 Pro-street With "rodeck" Aluminum Small Block, 4-speed Muncie on 2040-cars
Keokuk, Iowa, United States
You are bidding on a 1997 Chevy S10 Pro Street pickup with an all aluminum Rodeck 415 cu.in. dry-sumped small block.
This was a complete frame-off rebuild. Truck was tubbed and chassis was narrowed and a GM- 12-bolt rear was hung on a set of gm rear leaf springs. Rear end has a set of custom made traction-bars (like the Cal-tracs), a new Richmond 4.10 gear with a gm posi-unit and a new set of Moser Axles with 5/8” studs and Moser billet yoke. Hooks up very nicely. Rear tires are Hoosier Pro Street (31” X 12” X 15”) mounted on a set of new Nascar-style “Bassett” Chrome steel wheels with a 5” X 5” bolt pattern.
Front a-arms are GM that were rebushed and new ball-joints installed.(Upper & Lower) Front spindles are a set of 4” drop “Belkin” with all new wheel bearings and GM rotors. All tie rod ends were also replaced.
Transmission:This is a completely rebuilt Muncie 4-speed with all new gears, hubs, sliders, counter-shaft and syncros. Has the larger BCA roller bearing for the input shaft. Only thing used is the case and main-shaft! It has a Hurst “Competition-Plus” Super Shifter w/ Reverse Lockout and a T-handle modified for the Line-loc.
Now for the engine: 415 cu.in. (4.145” bore X 3.800” stroke) all aluminum Rodeck Tall-Block, dry-sumped, With air-gap open plenum intake and new holley 900cfm double pumper.
Engine components were purchased new with the exception of the block. The block is a used “Rodeck” aluminum block that came out of a sprint car. Truck has never been raced.
Engine details are as follows:
Block: Rodeck aluminum 4.145” bore (+.020") (deck height +.250”) Heads: Dart Pro 1 fully ported 23 degree angle-plug with 230 cc runners and 2.08” intake and 1.6” exhaust Stainless valves with roller valve springs that will accept up to .750” lift, with 7/16” studs. 54 cc chambers Rockers: Competition Cams 1.6 super-duty roller rocker arms on both intake And exhaust Stud girdle: Sumit bar-type Crank: Crower 4340 3.800 stroke (400 main journal, 350 rod journal) Rods: Compstar 6.125” “H” beam stroker rods w 7/16” bolts Pistons: Mahle Flat Top Cam: Ultradyne roller CHS 292/304-08R .625” Lift (.900 base) Lifters: Competition Cams Pushrods: Crane +.200” Gear-Drive: Pete-Jackson Dry-Sump: Barnes 3-stage with 3 1/2 gallon Peterson tank & Setrab oil cooler Intake: High rise air-gap fully ported w/open plenum Carb: New Holley 900 cfm double pumper Ignition: Mallory unilite mechanical advance with Pro-master coil Harmonic balancer: Fluid Damper Water pump; Mesiere electric Fuel cell: RCI 16-gal. with bladder Holley electric fuel pump Autometer tach and gauges Sanderson headers 1 3/4 tubes with 3” collectors and shorty glass-pack Mufflers Line-lock Centerforce-II w/ 11” clutch with gm 30 lbs. Compression ratio is 13.5 : 1
Motor has not been on the dyno but estimated horsepower is 650+ Pulls very hard from 3500-7500 RPM
Total cost for engine at build time was $12,500. This truck is very fast, very reliable and a lot of fun to drive. Engine runs cools and is very responsive. Engine sounds amazing and is quite a head-turner This truck has never traveled more than 20 miles from my home. Mostly to car-shows and running around town. Adding this link to a video of a nice "burnout" I did last year with this truck: http://youtu.be/aum8TZ7t5YY "Silver-Bullet" S-10 Massive burnout. Enjoy!!! |

New Bright creating exclusive 1:8 scale radio-controlled C7 Corvette
Mon, 04 Feb 2013If you want a new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette but can't quite save up enough pennies for the monthly payment, we have good news for you. Toymaker New Bright has pulled the covers off of its 1:8 scale remote-controlled version of the American sports car. Complete with a very detailed interior and LED headlights, this large-scale R/C is as close as most of us will ever come to having one of the menacing Chevrolet models to call our very own. New Bright still hasn't released pricing or availability, but word has it the coupe should hit the market soon.
Right now, it appears as if the C7 will hit shelves in Torch Red, though we don't know if other colors are planned as well. The good news is that New Bright isn't exactly turning its back on the old C6 - representatives say the company will continue to make its popular C6R racecar for those who prefer round taillights.
Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern
Mon, 21 Jan 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
