1995 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado Extended Cab Pickup 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Union Grove, Wisconsin, United States
The Pumpkin Truck. I named the
truck that because when I brought it home in October of 2003, it leaked air so
bad, that it shortly was sitting on the garage floor looking like, a giant
pumpkin. This is a
1995 Chevy C1500 that is a lot of fun to drive.
84,000 original miles. No rust. Stored
winters. Dependable. I have had it to Nebraska, Mississippi,
Georgia. Decent fuel mileage; 13 city,
17 highway. I bought it at 68,000. Motor has approx. 10,000 mi. Body
mods: Approx. $15,000
* Note: A
body drop is where the entire body, front to back, is tucked over the frame by
cutting out the floor and all body/bumper mounts; moving them up, and
re-welding the works. Interior
mods: Approx. $2,600
Chassis
mods: Approx. $7,600
Engine
Mods: Approx. $10,500
* Accel DFI
included a 1000cfm throttle body, single plane intake, sequential port
injection, 8 injectors, rails, fuel pump, ECM (Engine Control Module),
sequential distributor, coil and spark control, electric fuel pump. With a bigger cam and injectors, the
motor will make 500hp. Cost of purchasing the truck: $18,000 So, the cost of the truck is almost
offset by the body mods. I have over $40K invested. Nothing for my labor/time. Will consider trade for a late model
4X4 pickup. See more at www.HillJean.com Enjoy! |

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment
Thu, 07 Nov 2013That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.
2015 Chevrolet Cruze spied on its home turf
Tue, 23 Apr 2013The next Chevrolet Cruze isn't set to go into production for about another year, and we're just now seeing prototypes of the new compact running around here in the States. Not much more has been revealed since we saw the car blasting through the snow in Europe, but we can still clearly see new design elements like the larger grille, slimmer headlamps and redesigned taillamps.
Our spy photographers worked up a composite image of this Cruze prototype alongside the current model, and here, we can clearly see some big visual changes are in store for the new model. The 2015 Cruze's hood slopes downward more dramatically, the windshield is more heavily raked, and the roofline looks more fluid overall. The next-generation Cruze will ride on the new global Delta platform that will also underpin other General Motors vehicles like the Chevrolet Volt and Equinox.
As for what's under the hood, we expect the normal range of gasoline four-cylinder engines (both naturally aspirated and turbocharged), and the compact's new turbodiesel four should carry over, as well. Have a look at the full brace of spy photos in the gallery above.
