For Sale: This unrestored, beautiful, solid, RUST-FREE Coral and Alpine White 1961 Plymouth Suburban. One of the finest original Mopar wagons in existence, at NO RESERVE - this emotional survivor will sell. Affectionately dubbed “Miss Coral”, this vehicle has been beloved for all of her 53 years.

Featuring the distinctive push-button transmission, her odometer shows 62,910 original miles.

Owned by the quintessential little old lady for her first 35 years, garaged since new and absolutely pampered her entire life, a 2009 AACA – HPOF survivor, she comes with her original build sheet and original owner’s manual, service and supplement manual.

*ALL Original: paint, Solex glass, hubcaps, chrome, bumpers, stainless, trim, mirrors, pristine aero wheel, and interior.

*Everything works: lights, gauges, radio, heat, directionals, foot pump accessory washer actuator, wipers, rear power window.

*Exterior:  The factory-applied baked enamel shows very minor touch-ups (right front fender behind headlight, a bit of primer shows through), the original Coral paint features the original paint inspection stamp (“Paint OK”) on the left in the engine compartment. Chrome is beautiful, absolutely NO pitting on any pot metal, which is almost unheard of for a car of this vintage. The Solex tinted windshield is in remarkable condition, with one small 1/8th inch imperfection approx. 3 inches above the Forward Look etch at lower center.

The only rust to be found is a small area on the right rear quarter, under bumper. Floors and underbody are solid. This car is a Uni-Body, with the rust-free undercarriage showing no hint of any repairs or any undercoating that was not factory applied 53 years ago.

All doors operate smoothly, all windows roll up and down effortlessly. When closing, the doors have that unmolested, satisfying solid “thud” that can’t be duplicated. All weather stripping is soft and pliable.  What can we say about the grill? It is incredible, with anodizing in near mint condition. The original headlight bezels and lenses are in excellent condition. The rear power window works from the knob at dash or key actuator at rear.

*Engine: 318 2V backed by the famous Torqueflite 3-speed push-button trans. The engine compartment is in amazing condition showing shiny factory Coral paint and green coded hood springs. The car comes with power steering and power brakes, and has a NEW correct-style battery from Antique Auto Battery. She runs and drives excellent.

*Interior: Sitting behind the aero wheel looking at the instrumentation, you can experience the 60’s jet age design. This untouched time capsule features factory, mint-condition lower dash, instrument bezels, knobs, crisp gauges, interior day/night mirror, E-brake warning light and Mopar vanity mirror. All lights and instruments perform perfectly, radio works and red-disk aerial intensifier adds to the reception. The headliner is in better-than-excellent condition with NO sags, cracks, or flaws. Sun visors are excellent. Door panels are perfect, as are window cranks and interior handles. This car had rubber mats at one time and now has carpet. “It’s only original once,” and the optional padded dash has lifted up around the speaker area (see photos), but Irwin Tessler of “Just Dashes” in Van Nuys, CA, would have no problem duplicating her dash, if desired. The spare access is amazing, with original jack instructions.  The spare tire area has surface rust only (on floor) and jack and accessories are complete. Seats fold down effortlessly and are firm.  With gorgeous original fabric inserts, even the Forward Look emblem embossed in the silver vinyl on the back of the driver’s “command” seat still looks incredible.

*Flaws: windshield imperfection, right front fender paint touch-up, dash flaws (all as discussed). Seller is very up front about this survivor’s condition.

This is the Holy Grail, folks, Virgil Exner’s ode to the family wagon in desirable coral and white with that inimitable grill. A once in a lifetime opportunity, take her home and pamper her in the manner to which she has become accustomed. This honest car speaks for herself. Weather permitting, the car will be at the “Chrysler Nationals” at Carlisle on SE corner of show outside Gate 7.

Clear PA title.
