Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a dealer will post all but the most flattering of professionally finished photographs. We prefer to post the many photos taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptional example of this original southern California 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Fuel Injection Convertible in the highly desirable color combination of 'Rosso' Monza Red exterior paint with a black soft top and a matching all black leather interior! The car was always primarily serviced at only Alfa specialists since new including the original selling dealer, Alfa-Maserati of Santa Monica' of Santa Monica, CA and in subsequent years primarily always at the renown 'Alfa Milano' of Los Angeles, CA with literally thousands and thousands of documented dollars spent over the years in preventive maintenance. The impressively thick file of service records show the car to be on its second clutch and with recent history showing at 97,199 miles; new fuel pump installed (1,096); at 98,009 miles a new A/C compressor, receiver/drier and high pressure hose & support bushings ($1,310); replace cam advance mechanism support ($496); service including adjust hand brake ($338); remove and replace front & rear shocks ($798).

The original factory 'Rosso' Monza Red color paint is in exceptional condition with only very minor imperfections noticeable upon very close inspection, in particular there is a small paint blemish on the passenger side door (see photos below). The car boasts its original factory canvas black soft top which is in great condition, although please note that the plastic rear window is now becoming a little cloudy and that although covered, there is also a crack in the original dashboard. The original black leather seats are in very good condition with no particular signs of wear.

The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) was produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993, it was also the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced.

The Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio was introduced in 1985 and was joined by the Veloce and Graduate. The Graduate, named in honor of the movie 'The Graduate' where an Alfa Romeo had a starring role, was the entry level vehicle. It featured vinyl seats, steel wheels, and other 'entry-level' amenities. The Veloce edition featured leather seats, cloth top, power windows, and power external rear view mirrors. The wheels were constructed from alloy. The Quadrifoglio was the top-of-the-line Spider at the time, featuring specially designed leather seats, alloy wheels, air conditioning, redesigned front spoiler, side skirts, canvas top and detachable hard top.

The series 3 spider came with a 2 liter DOHC engine with electronic Bosch fuel injection or twin Webber carburators as an option in Europe. In the United States emissions devices gave the car a significant 10 hp drop. However, thanks to variable camshaft timing the engine is still lively, especially since the car weighs little over 2500 lbs. (1000 kilos). On both country roads as well as highways, power is more than enough to drive fast. The gearbox has long throws but is very precise, remember your input goes directly to your gearbox and not some elastic band linkage found in "modern" cars. 0-100kmh (0-60mph) is approximately 9 seconds and top speed (top closed) is a real 200kmh (120 mph). In 1986, the base-level Spider, the Graduate cost just under $14,000. All Spider models shared basic mechanical components such as the 120 cubic-inch engine, and five-speed manual gearbox. Disc brakes could be found on all four corners.

This original southern California two owner car since new has been exceptionally well maintained and serviced and drives exactly like such a supremely well maintained example should and you will surely look long and hard to find a finer example of this increasingly desirable and collectible garage kept and rust and accident free Alfa Romeo Veloce Spider Roadster in this very striking color combination available anywhere else!
