1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute 454 Engine Green on Green

I am pleased to offer this beautiful 1971 Chevelle SS Tribute car.  VIN # is 136371K115785.  Mileage is 108,2XX miles +/-.

Look up the definition of “muscle car” and the second generation Chevelle is almost always referenced directly. Offered in trim levels ranging from stripped down economy car to luxury pavement punisher, there was a Chevelle capable of satisfying nearly every car buyer of the day. The idea has continued across the last forty years, making room for even wilder variations to surface.

Take this ‘71 Chevelle for example – Completely updated a few years ago, with paint and interior, stock wheel and tire package, and a GM big block, this tastefully reworked Chevy takes the stock settings and turns it into a nice driver. If you’re ready to hit the streets in a head-turning car built to drive anywhere, take a closer look at this ‘71 Chevelle.

When this A-body left the Kansas City plant in January of 1971, it looked a little different than it does today. For starters, it was painted Lime green and badged as a Malibu. A two-barrel-equipped 350cid V8 lived up front while the bench seat interior was wrapped in light green cloth ... Needless to say, it might have been a car perfectly suited to daily driving, but far from a head turner. To complement that, a glossy coat of code 48 Sequoia Green replaced the original paint. Accented by aggressive white SS-Style stripes, the car incorporates the best factory attributes, merging them into one awesome package. The paintwork presents well, offering crisp accurate reflections thanks to the body beneath. The details are in place as well – panel fitment is well beyond OEM with good gaps all around.

For the 1971 model year, the Chevelle continued with its squared off masculine look. Sturdy and plainspoken, this remains some of GM’s most popular design language. At the front, a widened grille extends between the headlight housings, just above the chrome bumper. Above the grille, an SS-style Cowl hood adds an aggressive look to the front end, drawing the eye towards the crystal clean windshield and nice stainless trim. The side profile is clean with only bright wheel moldings, chrome door handles, mirrors and SS badges accenting the bright paintwork. At the back end, the attractive rear bumper integrates another SS badge above the license plate recess with two pairs of round lights at either side. While a lot of enthusiasts tend to favor the 1970 front end, the 1971 and 1972 models definitely received the better rear view. Overall, the body presents much as a factory build would have, but its appeal is nearly universal.

Few cars fit the “muscle car” description better than a Chevelle, so when it comes to building one, there better be some power on tap. Lift the hood on this A-body and you’ll find a GM Big Block 454, with a 4-barrel carb and factory style air cleaner. The engine bay itself is as attractive as the rest of the car. The firewall looks nearly stock with the factory wiper motor, brake booster, and heater core components in place, with a “super start” battery, stock looking radiator, and stock fan that round out the front end of the engine bay. The big block comes with factory exhaust manifolds that have been coated to keep that fresh factory look. The exhaust manifolds run through a factory style dual exhaust system that gives the car a nice rumble.

Underneath the car, a clean undercarriage continues the quality of work found throughout the rest of the car. Rock solid floor pans are coated in satin black with some undercoating which sets the perfect backdrop for the chassis, which has also been blacked out. In the center, a GM turbo 350 automatic transmission takes care of gear selection, while a 12-bolt differential packed with highway-friendly 3.53 gears puts the power to the ground. Around all the drivetrain is a stock suspension that still carries the car smoothly down the highway. The car is also factory equipped with power steering and power brakes. On all four corners you’ll find raised white letter Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS rubber with plenty of life left that’s mounted to factory style correct rally wheels.

Between the doors, the car is complete with a rally dash, which includes a speedo, tachometer, and clock. The interior was redone at some point in time to the darker green you see today to better suit the car’s new color, and both the front and rear seats are in great shape. The door panels are also in great shape with the only thing showing some age being the armrest bases. The driver is connected to the steering system through a factory style GM steering wheel mounted to a tilt column. From the floor mats to the nice headliner, the interior has a nice crisp clean appearance to it. Behind the rear seat, the trunk remains traditional with the correct factory style spatter painted floor pan.

Coated in one of the more popular color combinations known for these cars, this 1971 Chevelle SS Tribute not only looks the part, but backs it up with the Big Block power plant. Offered for significantly less than it would cost to recreate, this is one of those rare packages that offers style, value, and performance without dipping into your kid’s college fund. If you’ve got an empty garage space ready for one of the most popular muscle cars ever created, don’t miss this 1971 Chevelle!
