True SS 396 Car, restored with performance in mind.

This car was purchased from the original owner about 5 years ago, the car had been sitting in his garage for 25 years before I picked it up and began the restoration. I looked for a long time before finding this car. I wanted something rust free, because I knew I was going to be putting a lot of effort into the car and I wanted to start with something solid. What I found, was the most solid El Camino I have ever seen, zero rust is a term not used frequently on cars that are close to 45 years old, however, this car earns the right to be designated a rust free car. Feel free to come out with a magnet, you will find solid metal throughout. I purchased the car while it was carrying its factory original paint job. The body was strait and needed nothing. After 45 years, all that the body needed was a fresh paint job, no body work. The original paint job was stripped away to find a flawless body underneath. You will not find a straighter car than this. This is absolutely beautiful. The car caries a gorgeous shade of Blue exterior with a clear coat that shines so well, you can use the body panels as mirrors. The lines of the body are fantastic and there is no need to slam doors. All the weather stripping has been replaced with new soft seal rubber.   

HANDLES LIKE A DREAM  

She handles well due to many different features: The original Chevrolet Rally Wheels provide for many different options when choosing your rubber and currently they are fitted with new Uniroyals in the front and rear. To help keep this car glued to the ground we added the thickest sway bars we could find. All new polyurethane bushings and a 12-bolt rear-end with 3.07 gears keep the rear from losing traction and put the power to the ground. New power disc brakes on the front provide excellent stopping power to bring the car back down from high speeds. The car is equipped with power steering, making it drivable on both the highway and in the parking lot.

A NEW DRIVE TRAIN TO BUTTON HER UP 

This 396 Bored .40 over, high performance engine had enough hp for the average driver, however the rebuild on this engine saw all new parts including a Stage II cam, double roller timing chain, air gap aluminum intake, Edelbrock 750 CFM Carburetor, and the engine was bored .40 over.. The engine is now close to 450 HP. The transmission is a recently rebuilt turbo 400 with a shift kit. (See specs below for full engine details)  

PAINT THAT HAS CLEAR FOR MILES AND INTERIOR THAT IS ALL NEW

 The Paint was done just months ago and was a 2 stage job. The body is seamless and the clear shines like nothing we've seen before. All Panels , doors, the trunk and hood all line up well. The interior has all been redone, from the carpet to the headliner, everything has been replaced. A new dash pad, and brand new upholstery finish off the interior.
