This is my 1978 280Z Black Pearl that is all stock and unmodified. It has a 5 speed transmission and air conditioning.

I bought this Z with 88,000 miles on it in May of 1999 from a school teacher who lived in Tracy, CA. She had bought the car new from San Jose, CA Datsun. I have the original Datsun and dealer window stickers. I lived in Redwood City, Ca until 2009 when I moved back to MN. The car has NEVER been driven in MN winters, nor driven until after good rains have washed the salt and salt dust of the MN roads. The car has always been stored inside in MN, and in recent years, it has been in a heated and humidity controlled garage.

The car has never been in any major accident but it has had two parking lot encounters. The drivers side front fender had a crease in it when I bought it. The passengers side front fender was bumped from the side just behind the head light. Both would be easy repairs during a repaint.

The car only has one rust out spot which is on the bottom of the driver's side frame rail at the back end, which was treated years ago. The battery box area and the corner under the rear deck lid have had the surface rust treated. The bumpers are not rusted out. There isn't any rust where the frame rails join the body. Therefore, no major rust compared to many. The car has the original paint and Black Pearl stripping, although they are both badly deteriorated in typical Datsun fashion.

The tires are Pirelli Super Touring P4000's that are half to two thirds worn, but certainly good enough to drive anywhere or to drive for a while.

The Z is very drivable but one major thing the car is going to need is a complete brake job. I have ALL the new parts for it but just do not have the time to get it done. Rotors, pads, drums, shoes, and cylinders all are included with the sale of the car. A car cover made for a Z is also included, along with other miscellaneous parts.

I reserve the right to list this car for sale in other venues and to end this listing at any time. Transporting or shipping the car is the responsibility of the buyer.

I don't get much chance to drive this car, but when I do, I can tell you that the 5 speed transmission really makes the car fun to drive compared to 4 speed models. The A/C blows cold and is great to have, plus it is a lot quieter inside than earlier Z years.
