Note:  Unlike many dealers or flippers on Ebay, I have owned and driven British cars all my lifeI don't use superlatives in describing any car that I own or sell.  I present the cars and its faults, and trust me, no British car is perfect.   I also grew up on the East Coast, so I know a thing or two about rust and where it dwells.  This is a hobby and my aim is to place a reasonably priced, solid car into your garage.

If you are looking for a British roadster to enjoy the summer and the fall, you really can’t go wrong with a MGB.  If you are looking for a MGB to enjoy on the freeway as well as the back roads, you really want an example with an overdrive transmission.  The overdrive allows you to cruise on the freeway without winding the engine out.  As you probably know, finding a MGB with overdrive and in good shape is more difficult these days.  This example looks and drives very well.  It is not a show car, but with little effort it will look very nice indeed.

Drivetrain:

The car shows 45357 on the odometer and from looking through the accompanying documentation on the car, it is actually 145357.  The car’s records show the engine was rebuilt at 126,610. Also, the transmission is noted to have been rebuilt at 132,860.  The engine runs incredibly well with no smoking or rattling valves.  The coolant has been flushed and a new fail-safe thermostat, and radiator hoses.  The factory cooling fans have been removed and a modern single puller electric fan is in place.  All of the smog equipment has been removed and no longer accompanies the car (thus is NOT SMOG LEGAL).  The Zenith Stromberg has been replaced with a 32/36 Weber DGV downdraft carburetor.  An exhaust header is in place of the original exhaust manifold.  A new catalytic converter has been installed on the car.  The problematic Lucas OPUS electronic distributor amplifier and pickup has been replaced by a Pertronix type electronic ignition module.  All of this contributes to a MGB that starts right up, idles very smoothly, and accelerates with no hiccups or flat spots.  The transmission shifts fine with the overdrive smoothly engaging and disengaging smoothly with the gear switch in 3rd and 4th.  The rear differential has new thrust washers installed and has no noises and clunking.

Body/Suspension:

The car is a solid California blue plate car (California since new) with no rust holes or accident damage.  The car has some small areas of surface rust on the underneath side (as seen on the photos), but nothing of significance, and appears to wear the factory undercoating.  The car was recently repainted in the original yellow with a very nicely done paint job (all bumpers, lights, and trim removed before repaint). The side chrome strips has the normal parking lot dings in them, but are perfectly fine for a driver level car. There is no rust beneath the strips as you find on some cars.  The car has a new Robbins vinyl convertible top with a zip out rear window that was installed within the last two months.  The rubber window and vent window seals have been replaced.  The door seals have been replaced as well.  There are new lenses on the taillights and the back up lights.  All of the lamp assemblies have new gaskets.  The bumpers are in great shape with no cracks, splits, or deformation.  There is only a very small scuff mark on the driver front bumper corner.  The suspension of the car is in good order with no bouncing or knocks.  The brake master cylinder and reservoir have been replaced and the car brakes very well, with no pulls in either direction.  There are new brake shoes in the rear.  The car sports a vintage set of Appliance style wire wheels.  These wheels are actually a chrome bolt on rim with a detachable wire wheel basket.  I personally don’t like the look, but they are presentable, functional, and have a usable set of tires on them.

Interior:

The interior is very nice and presents very well.  The seats have been recovered and the interior panels and door pulls are new as well.  A new Moss Motors carpet kit has been installed with new Aamco style MG rubber mats.  New PVC under dash liners eliminate the often visible array of hanging wires often seen on many MGBs.  There is no stereo installed in the car.  All of the switches and and gauges work (even the clock keeps accurate time!). The trunk has a Moss carpet set installed and looks very good.

If you are looking for a MGB that all of the hard work has been done on and is ready to go on a weekend outing, then this example is definitely one to consider.

I strive to honestly tell about everything I see and have found on the car.  It surprises me how many MGs are for sale with descriptions that leave out a lot of detail.  However, I may have forgotten to discuss something, so feel free to ask questions!

NOTE: CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND ON OTHER VENUES.  CAR IS SUBJECT TO SALE AT ANY TIME.
