The E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in two-seater coupe form and as a two-seater convertible. A "2+2" four-seater version of the coupe, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made."

The New York City Museum of Modern Art recognized the significance of the E-Type's design in 1996 by adding a blue roadster to its permanent design collection, one of only six automobiles to receive this distinction.

The car you see here is an early production 1965 Jaguar XKE Flat Floor Roadster and it is very deserving of the “most beautiful car ever made” title! This particular car was built on January 3rd, 1962 and comes to us on consignment as the owner had owned this car since 1974! Sadly, Mr. Enslin has passed on and is it is being sold on the behalf of his family. We wish to find a loving family for custodian for the next generation. The roadster has benefitted from an older complete nut & bolt restoration, has been meticulously maintained and has been regularly driven with many years worth of repair receipts in hand. As mentioned, it is VERY correct and original! Included with the car is not only the original tool kit and original owner’s manual from 1962, but also the Heritage Trust Certificate, ownership history, original VIN plate, restoration photos and receipts totaling up to $42,052! This is a very well documented, very well restored Jaguar!

Finished in the correct Carmen Red, this Jaguar’s paint is deep with a beautiful luster. It is VERY obvious that this car has been properly stored and maintained over the past 49 years! The paint is nearly flawless with no notable imperfections to list. The body is in absolutely impeccable condition, while not a 100 point concourse vehicle, it would take very little to bring the car to 100 point JCNA standard. The chrome bumpers are in excellent shape and shine very bright to compliment the paint. The cosmetic, nut & bolt restoration was professionally and carefully done by LeStable. The black soft top convertible is in wonderful shape, as are both the tonneau cover and boot.

Inside the coupe, the correct black leather interior looks immaculate. The leather interior shows no major wear marks and looks exquisite. The carpet and headliner also look great. The dash is in excellent condition and houses a set of original gauges and an original AM/FM radio. It should be mentioned that the steering wheel is tilt.

Under the hood sits the desirable and sought after 3.8L dual overhead camshaft inline 6 cylinder engine. Mated to the engine is a 4-speed manual transmission. As mentioned, this is a numbers matching car. The engine number is R 3367 9 and the gearbox number is EB 2521 JS. The Jaguar was professionally mechanically restored by S&D Enterprises. The coupe sits elegantly upon a set of 15” chrome Jaguar Knock Off wire wheels wrapped in 6.40-15 Coker wide white wall tires that look absolutely beautiful.

As mentioned, included with the purchase of this immaculate Jaguar are not only the original tool kit and original owner’s manual from 1962, but also the Heritage Trust Certificate, ownership history, original VIN plate, restoration photos and receipts totaling up to $42,052! We also have a snippet of the original build sheet from Jaguar, which is EXTREMELY seldom seen, as well as a Jaguar E-Type Service Manual.

This is a truly outstanding and refined 1962 Jaguar XKE Flat Floor and we dare say that it is very high quality and presents itself well. The car drives as good as it looks and starts easily with the push of a button! The VIN for this outstanding Jaguar is 876501 and the current mileage shows 80,811. It is being sold on a clean and clear Missouri title, showing same ownership since 1974. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
