Vehicle Description

While Chevelles and GTOs get a lot of attention, they certainly aren’t the only game in town. Their rocket-badged cousins have more curves and more cubes, lending them a lasting appeal that resonates in today’s collector market. And this unrestored 1971 Oldsmobile 442 “survivor” is a great example of why ALL GM muscle cars are so incredible!

Born with wicked awesome looks, this Olds’ still looks great just as it sits in its unrestored state today. The car’s all-original sheet-metal is covered in most of its factory original GM code 19 Ebony Black paint. It also still is wearing its original Gold stripe kit. The Gold striping on the Ebony black paint is a highly desirable combination.

It’s hard to believe looking at these pictures this car is unrestored. Its chrome and stainless trim is still in great condition, the car is straight with gaps lining up all over, and it runs and drives so well it gives you full confidence that she could take you pretty much anywhere you choose. She still has that comfortable and luxurious Oldsmobile feeling, and everything seems to work great on it. There’s no trick photography here – these photos are raw and untouched – yes, it does look this good. I do want to take a minute here and state clearly that this car does need a complete paint job. The original factory paint is showing signs of its age. But that’s the best part – this car is left up to YOU to enjoy either driving it as a survivor car, or enjoy doing a restoration yourself to add value to the car. A quick paint job, a seat cover on the driver’s side, and some TLC is all this car needs to become a real nice piece for any enthusiast or collector.

Power is provided by an original numbers matching 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8 that is all original and not rebuilt to our knowledge. Has a 10-bolt rear-end stamped W 27 and big, 3.73 gears. The car also retains its original double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension. It also features correct power steering and a correct rear sway bar. And at the corners, 14-inch Magnum 500s, Firestone Fire hawk SS p245/60r14, with power-assisted brakes.

Inside the car, you’ll find more great Oldsmobile styling wrapped in a mixture of black vinyl, bright stainless and rich wood grain appliqué. A luxurious combination of bucket and bench seats, judging by appearance, haven’t seen much wear at all. Also note the “His & Hers” factory Automatic HURST shifter. That upscale aura continues onto the dashboard, which offers factory gauges, and a basic radio, and it looks like someone added a small tachometer on the column for convenience. Up in front of the driver, a satin-spoked steering wheel laps a bright red rocket emblem. As far as the interior goes, you can see for yourself in the photos that for an original interior, this is in GREAT condition. Like I said previously, the only thing this car needs is a driver’s side seat cover – the rest can be left alone its in that good of condition!

The market for authentic, investment grade Oldsmobile’s is incredibly strong, as evidenced by how quickly these 442 sell. This is a great opportunity for someone to make a great buy on a very solid, great running, classic Olds 442 and perhaps add a lot of value to this car in the process.
