This Firebird is a numbers matching car.  A mechanical restoration on a rotisserie was completed in 2011.  Engine, drivetrain, suspension, steering, brakes and exhaust, (basically everything except the interior, body and glass) were all rebuilt to factory specifications.  Engine was rebuilt with lower compression to allow use of regular octane fuel.  Rear end was disassembled and checked.  Rear end runs quiet with no gear noise.  Transmission was rebuilt in 1992.  The air conditioning operates.  The factory original AC compressor has been rebuilt.  The ignition has been upgraded with an HEI system along with an internal regulator style alternator.  Water pump has the correct and more efficient cast iron impeller with modified plates for proper clearance.  No overheating problems with this car whatsoever!

It’s a driver so it’s not perfect, but it’s a very presentable and fun-to-drive vehicle.  Every reasonable attempt was made to replicate the correct factory assemblies and finishes.  The car has spent its entire time in the southwest and apparently lived a pampered life.  The body has some rust issues with bubbling, small cracks and other typical defects.  The southwest environment has kept the corrosion at bay.  The driver’s forward floor pan was replaced.  Also a section of the lower cowl area was replaced.

While the AM radio is still installed, an aftermarket stereo is currently in use.  It is unknown if the AM radio works.  Also, a Viper alarm system is currently installed.  Paperwork includes Pontiac History Documentation Package, (Pontiac Historical Services) and invoices/receipts from previous repairs and maintenance from the previous owner. (Back to 1994)  Exact mileage is unknown.  The odometer was reset to zero during the restoration. The mileage at that time was reading about 97,000.  Mileage reading now is about 8,000 miles.

The deluxe interior is original except for the carpet and door panels.  The seats are worn.  The dash pad has cracks.  The deluxe steering wheel is also cracked.   I believe the glass is original except for the windshield.  Dash wiring harness is original.  The rest of the harnesses have been replaced.

Paint was originally Seamist Green.  The repaint that was done several years ago was deteriorating,  so after the mechanical restoration and while waiting for an opening for me to complete the rest of the car the owner decided to spruce up the exterior with a simple, single stage paint job.  Paint is very nice with barely visible orange peel.  It flowed very nicely but has a few chips.

But now, the owner says it’s time to sell.  Car has been listed locally, so auction is subject to end at any time.
