Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: ANOTHER BARN FIND. This is a no reserve auction and the Triumph will be sold regardless of price, on or off auction.     This particular auction is for an authentic original 1975 Triumph TR6 Roadster as shown. A couple photos show it as it was recently removed from the barn covered with 27 years of dirt and Cosmoline. We just cleaned it up and took the rest of the photos. It is an unrestored original survivor. Everything is original including the engine and transmission. The odometer shows 71000 miles. I believe it is correct but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. There are over 60 detailed photos. As of this writing Hagertys classic car values list the value for the 1975 Triumph TR6 at $10000 low and $35000 high. Average of $16656.

Getting tired of seeing nothing but "restored" or junk, modified, restorod, unoriginal or rusty cars for sale? It is hard for the do it yourselfer to find an original car worthy and inexpensive enough to restore and have something that is a solid original when the job is finished. A lot of them have been given a one week "restoration" hiding many sins and covering up the interesting historic indicators of time. Most solid original survivors have disappeared. A lot of the leftovers are either "restored" cars or rusty beaters. I have never bought a "restored" car, having spent almost 40 years collecting the best original condition cars that I could find and putting them in storage preserving them for enjoyment by some future owner.

I will answer all email questions. Following is a detailed description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

I have owned and stored this Triumph for the last 27 years. It is a Southern Georgia car from new. It comes with the British Motor Heritage Certificate certifying it as being a numbers matching engine/transmission original car. The car was repainted once many years ago in the original Delft blue. Original factory equipment: Delft blue paint with Shadow blue interior. Built June 5, 1975, shipped to British Leyland Motors in Jacksonville Florida June 12, 1975. Disc wheels, heater, laminated windscreen, inertia reel seat belts, tonneau cover (no longer there) and 185-15 Goodyear red band tyres. I have a clear Georgia title.

ENGINE:

Original matching numbers Triumph 6 cylinder motor. Starts and runs well. We started it by feeding fuel to the carbs through an external fuel tank. We opted not to go through the mess of cleaning out the fuel lines and tank, leaving that to the next owner. Good oil pressure. No smoke or noises. Original engine number is CF39007UE.

TRANSMISSION:

Original matching numbers 4 speed all syncro Triumph transmission. Shifts well in a stationary position and shifted perfectly with no problems the day it was stored. Transmission clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder will need replacing or rebuilding.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

Extremely nice and solid. All original with the original nice paint. Zero rust with the exception of a small section at the top of the battery box where the battery post was up against the bulkhead - as shown, hardly noticeable. There is no battery.

  TRUNK COMPARTMENT:

Extremely solid with the original paint.

EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS:

Extremely solid. No rust at all. No dents. No past damage or repair spots.

EXTERIOR BODY PARTS:

Bumpers and chrome are in very good, straight condition. Front bumper will need rechroming. Rear bumper chrome is good for a driver but would need rechroming for show. Windshield will need a new rubber seal - old one is original and cracked. All glass is good and uncracked.

PAINT:

It had one repaint about 20 years ago. Unfortunately I knew a body shop that needed work and they said they would paint the car. It didn't need it, there was nothing wrong with it except it was surface faded - I decided to help the shop out but if I had any brains I would have buffed it out myself. That was about 20 years ago and by now the paint is peeling in areas as shown. If I knew how to remove the old paint easily I would do that and buff out the original paint. This car is well worth the effort to get the paint in good shape because it is such a solid original car. Only the exterior of the car was painted. The trunk, engine compartment, door jambs, etc are original factory paint.

   CHASSIS:

The frame and underside of the car are also in excellent rust free condition. Surface rust only. No damage or repairs. Straight and original.

  INTERIOR:

The floors are excellent originals with the original paint. There are a couple of very small isolated holes as shown where some water must have sat. Hardly noticeable. The floors were painted to stop any further oxidation. Wet carpet more than likely.

DASH AREA:

The dash is completely original with all of the original gauges. The original wood could use a revarnish or replacement, whichever would be your personal taste. The top pad is cracked but the other lower pads are still good. All switches are there and seem to function well. The steering wheel is excellent. Turn signal and high beam stalks are intact and work well. There is no radio. Used to have one but it is long gone. Steering wheel key locking assembly works fine. Original ignition and door keys are there. There is a choke knob but no choke cable - needs one.

   UPHOLSTERY:

The seats are the original shadow blue vinyl - can be used as is but should have new covers if the car is going to be more than a driver. Door panels are fair - should be replaced. The rear upholstery is still quite good and serviceable. The original carpeting was pulled out long ago - I ordered a complete new shadow blue interior from Moss Motors many years ago for this car. Time went by and I realized I would not do much more work on cars so I sold the upholstery on ebay long ago. The seats are not bolted down to the floor. Needs sun visors.

AIR CONDITIONING:

None. Aftermarket air conditioners can be installed - the new units are excellent, compact and very efficient.

TIRES & WHEELS:

All 5 wheels are original to the car. They need sanding and refinishing. New trim rings are in order. The ones on there are not good. All 5 original red line tires are good enough to hold air and drive a short distance but all 5 should be replaced for normal use.

EXHAUST:

Original exhaust is there. The exhaust pipes look OK but the muffler needs replacing.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES:

Car is not driveable because of no brakes. All original suspension and braking mechanisms are intact. Nothing missing. Shocks are intact. The brakes will need all new hydraulics, either rebuilding or replacing.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Car rolls and steers easily so no problems with shuttling around. All of the glass is good. The convertible top mechanism is very good and functional but will need a new convertible top. Doors open and close solidly with no sagging. Door windows roll up and down. All sheet metal panels are straight and aligned. There is no jack or tools. There is a redline spare tire and wheel.

PAPERWORK:

A clear Georgia title from the last owner goes with the car. An owners manual and the British Heritage Certificate will also go with the car

FACTORY ID PLATE:

The original ID plates are all very nice and unmodified. The vehicle serial number is CF38974U. Body number is T3648CF.

REVIEW:

An attractive relatively rust free roadster that can be finished in many ways. Can be rebooted into a fine driver in only a couple of days or completely redone for a show car.

INSPECTION OF CAR:

As always, it is difficult at best to describe something as complex as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my due diligence and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible.

SHIPPING:

I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world over the years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. The car is in a secure place at my home. You  can collect the car at my home. I can assist with loading. The car can stay here for up to 30 days from the close of the auction but I cannot guarantee it will be covered for long. I could use a tarp if necessary.

PAYMENT & BIDDING:

Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled. A $500 deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority mail with a bank cashiers check or cash. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due BEFORE the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming and inspecting the car to see if you like it - it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction. In my experience most of the cars sold on ebay are a wholesale bargain. Mine certainly have been. No Paypal.
