OVERVIEW

 

Some of the coolest rides I have ever had the pleasure of owning are the ones that were built in that magic place where ideas and dreams meet an open checkbook, and the best in parts and components get used to create the owners ideal vision of a show car.

 

This Elky is just that. The prior owner/builder/caretaker of this car has had it for over 25 years since he first saw it in a neighbor’s driveway at age 17 and knew he had to have it.

 

Over the years, it has been stock, slightly modified, painted different colors, restored to stock condition, and finally, turned into the incredible full custom show car that you see in the 75 extra-large photos below.

 

This car is stunning from every angle, and like the yellow jacket that it shares a color scheme with, it can really sting!

 

 

 

 

DESCRIPTION

 

 

 

 

This 1970 El Camino grabs your attention right off the bat with the stunning Ferrari Giallo Yellow finish covering its exterior.

 

The finish is fresh, glossy, slick, smooth, and has been lovingly color sanded and buffed to a mirror-like perfection all around.

 

There are NO dents, NO dings, NO structural damage to be found on the outside of the car whatsoever.

 

Since this is a recent build with practically no miles, it still shows like new from every angle, and has just a handful of truly minor blemishes on its exterior, if any. Most of the eBay sellers would simply call it PERFECT.

 

The body is all steel, and it is exceptionally straight and solid from any angle. I have taken a felt covered 4”x4” magnet to the car, and it sticks like glue to every surface panel.

 

Looking down the sides of the car, one can see that the lines, gaps, and panel straightness are show car quality from every angle.

 

The bright work and chrome on the car is equally stunning, and what has not been professionally re-chromed has been lovingly polished and cleaned to look as amazing as possible on the car.

 

All of the cars weather stripping, window fuzzies, regulators and seals are all like new, and function exceptionally well.

 

The car is equipped with power side windows, as well as power side VENT windows, and all of them open and close super smooth.

 

The bed on this Elky is rock solid, super clean, and has been show finished and painted to match the rest of the car. The front portion opens to reveal a solid and clean storage well and the battery box.

 

The glass on the car is in exceptional condition, and other than a few very light marks to be found in a couple spots, still shows like new. It is crack, chip, and ding free.

 

The hood on the car is steel, and has been professionally trimmed to allow for the gigantic THE BLOWER SHOW supercharger to stick through it!

 

It is safely connected to the car via twin chrome hood pins, and has been reinforced.

 

The engine bay itself has been fully finished and treated to the same quality Giallo Yellow finish as the rest of the car.

The powertrain on this car is practically bulletproof, and was professionally built from the ground up to be reliable and streetable on PUMP GAS.

 

The car has about 800 miles on it since completion, and has NOT been down the strip. It is a street-use car, and has been driven to a few local car shows and cruises in Southwest Florida.

 

It idles cleanly at 750rpm in DRIVE, and has the rev limiter set at 4,500rpm right now for safety. You can adjust it to your comfort zone.

 

It starts easily, just turn the key to accessory, let the fuel pressure come up for a minute, pump the gas about half way, and fire it up.

 

Keep a very light amount of gas pedal pressure applied for a minute to let the car come up to operating temperature a little quicker, and then it will idle smooth and clean on its own.

 

Snick the transmission into gear and the car is ready to roll, but make sure you know where you are heading, because it will get you to that spot VERY QUICKLY.

 

In DRIVE, with a light foot on the gas, the car is actually pretty mild, and can cruise the boulevard and back roads just as nicely as anything else.

 

Temperature stays in check thanks to the custom made shroud, twin electric fans, and the massive, custom built radiator.

 

The car sounds great, and at idle or cruising speeds has a healthy rumble close to that of a newer Corvette Z06.

 

Now if you want to REALLY, REALLY GO, well, hang on tight and stomp that gas pedal!

 

Doesn’t matter if you are stopped or rolling along at 35 on the boulevard, the car will absolutely come alive around you as 700+ mind-wrenching horsepower explodes in a moment of aural and visceral delight!

 

BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!

 

From a stop, the car will simply spin tire until it finally catches traction on the big Mickey Thompsons, then it will launch so hard you’ll feel like an astronaut strapped to a rocket!

 

Already cruising? Well in that case, a stomp on the pedal pins you to the seat and sets you down the road you were on IN A MAJOR HURRY! Thanks to the posi, the car hooks up straight and true, and is pretty simple to keep in check.

 

If you put pure slicks on this car, I would imagine that a wheelstand of some height would be the result, because it is just sends a HUGE amount of power to the rear wheels, and the only thing keeping it from standing up now is the limited traction supplied by the street radials.

 

You can drive this car around town. It is simple to operate, handles well, and doesn’t do anything stupid.

 

You could probably drive it a fairly long distance if you don’t mind cruising at slow speeds thanks to the 4.11 gears, and getting about 11 mpg.

 

You can take this beast to a car show, let everyone ogle at how nice it is on the inside and out, and drive home with a trophy.

 

You can take it the strip, and burn some wicked 1/8 or ¼ miles times too.

 

You can do just about anything you want with this radical Elky, and it will do it well.

 

The car rides on a set of new CRAGAR Drag Star wheels with skinnies up front and meaty Mickey Thompson Indy Profile tires out back.

 

Chassis underneath is clean and painted in chassis black. The pans are super solid, and not covered in layers of goop to hide things.

 

The interior of the car is a work of art, and was custom designed to be a truly one of a kind example of where a radical but clean build could go.

 

The dash and center console were custom fabricated from a CAD design out of composite material, and then treated to the same Ferrari Giallo Yellow that graces the outside of the car.

 

It was custom fit to the car before being equipped with a full array of PRO-COMP ULTRA LITE gauges, which are (from left to right):

In the center stack resides a group of 6 panel switches which activate (from left to right):

Underneath that is a PIONEER MixTrax AM/FM STEREO with CD/MP3/USB/iPOD functionality and wireless remote. The stereo is brand new, and sounds fantastic through the custom amplified KICKER audio speakers in the door panels and rear panels.

 

The leather covered floor console houses the SmoothSwitch buttons for the power windows and power vent windows, which all operate flawlessly thanks to new window regulators and fuzzies.

 

Switches to actuate the door poppers are also in the floor console, and pop the doors open with ease thanks to heavy-duty springs and proper installation and alignment.

 

A B&M Pro Series ratchet shifter with chrome base plate is perfectly located for the driver, and looks extra clean with its full rubber boot.

 

The fixed steering column is perfectly situated for drivers of all shapes and sizes, and is topped with a 3 spoke drilled GRANT GT leather wrapped wheel.

 

A custom carpet was installed throughout the cabin using automotive show grade carpeting installed over layers of sound and heat proofing material. It shows like new, with no stains or issues.

 

The door panels were custom fabricated on the CAD machine as well, and the custom fiberglass panels look and fit fantastically in the car.

 

Since the door handles, window, and vent rollers have been removed, the only thing you see are the super sano contrast cross0stitching on the build-outs and the KICKER stereo speakers in each door. VERY clean.

 

The RECARO custom seats were completely stripped and rebuilt with adjustable thigh support, increase lumbar padding, and extra seat cushioning prior to being covered in luxurious black leather. The seams were than treated to an incredible cross-stitch in contrasting yellow that looks absolutely amazing, and whose idea was taken from the same Ferrari the color was picked from.

 

Custom back panels house the additional KICKER audio speakers, and hide the amplifier and other stereo items.

 

The entire interior is absolutely stunning in person, and everyone who has seen it has just been amazed that an Elky could look so modern, clean, and nice on the inside.

 

The chrome doorsills are in great condition and show wonderfully, as does the cleanly installed headliner. Custom wrapped and finished dash seam and A-Pillar fill panels look great, and keep the theme rolling from front to rear.

 

This is a really radical, really nice, and really amazing car. It has NEVER been to a major event show yet, or submitted to magazines for a feature story, but it certainly deserves to be. All we ask is that you give credit to those involved in the build and execution when you do.

 

The car still needs a speedometer cable installed, and if I can get to it before the listing expires, I will add to the description stating that I have completed that task.

 

The car is titled in FLORIDA as a 1970 CHEVROLET, and has no liens.

 

It is in the dealerships name, and is NOT a consignment car.

 

It is ready for transfer to the next owner, and is eligible for export sale as well.
