    Description

Up for grabs w/ no reserve is a 1949 Chevrolet 1/2 ton short bed pickup w/ a 216 engine and 4 speed trans. Other owner told me engine was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago and it codes out to be a 1952 truck engine. Odometer reads 71,000 plus mileage, but not sure how accurate it is since speedo cable is most likely broken in the sheathing.

I have done a lot of work to it but did not touch the paint; it was originally black, then baby blue and now faded pink/orange patina (perfect for a rat rod treatment). It runs great w/ no noises and stops fine. I did not take drums off to inspect brakes, but it has great pedal right now. I only drove it around town recently after it was parked for about 11 years in front of previous owners house, so you may want to go over brakes for safetys sake.

The speedo does not work, and I have a new cable coming which will go w/ the truck. Rest of gauges seem to work after I restored the faces. Entire inside of truck and inside doors were taken to bare metal, epoxy primed, and painted original Chevy brown (from Filling Station). Seat was totally done in thick brown vinyl w/ all new foam. All new glass, all rubber parts in cab were replaced including window fuzzies and door/window regulators were rebuilt w/ new splines. Cab has sound/heat proofing installed behind seat and behind new headliner.

The motor has 85 to 90 lbs compression in all cylinders and runs really nice. It is Carter W-1 carb rebuilt, new aluminum radiator, new belt/hoses, new overflow tank, restored old 1937 air cleaner w/ paper element. I restored to show condition the deluxe heater and control valve and put in new 6 volt fan...it heats hotter than hadees now. The tires have many many miles left on them, they look nearly new to me. They are 235/75 x 15" radials w/ after market chrome mags.

The grill is a super nice used original as old grill was dented and painted over 4 times. All new rubber under the hood too. The only thing that may need attention is the exhaust, the muffler is not rusted and it works fine, but no tailpipe on it. The pipe is dented in several spots where it goes under trans support, but no exhaust leaks I can find.

There was ZERO rust in the floors; I treated them w/ Napa rust stabilizer which turns black oxide. There was a rust hole on pass kick panel I fixed w/ metal patch. Both lower outer cowls had rust holes where they curve under door, so I patch paneled pieces by hand, welded in, and primer/paint was applied. Both rear cab corners needed a small patch panel which I hand formed and welded in...they were done right and orange enamel painted to sort of match original faded paint. There is old bondo on lower lips of front and rear fenders, esp where they meet running boards at rear. I left this alone, as it does not bother me w/ the patina paint anyways. There is bondo on bed along rails in spots and on tailgate...I left it alone as it was going to be a firewood truck anyhow.

New 6v battery, new cables, new taillights w/ new wiring from front to rear. Truck has no turn signals, but easy to add. New headlight bezels w/ gaskets too. Wiper motor (vacuum) was rebuilt...and tested fine w/ no wiper arms attached. Once I put new arms on w/ spring tension, they go up and drag on glass, so tension needs adjusted to make them work right. I did not list all the new parts, but you get the idea. Shoot an email if you want the complete list.

Truck is a great beat around vehicle that is new inside w/ all new glass. It could be driven for a long time "as is" or paint it and take it to the next level. Truck is in Encampment, WY 82325 just 90 miles W of Laramie WY and 40 mi south of I 80. Buyer to handle all transport, but I can be here when semi loads it. I can deliver on my car trailer if not too far away (email for quote). I cannot do Paypal unless we agree via email, otherwise check(bank or personal) or cash in person will work fine. Truck does not leave until funds clear my bank. Please ask questions and I can send more pics if needed....thank you. Someone is going to get a real bargain truck.
