Up for sale is a 1988 BMW M6.  The M6 is becoming a rare vehicle: it has been critically acclaimed throughout its lifespan for its elegant, aggressive "shark-nose" styling, luxury equipment, and top performance.  The M6 was second fastest production BMW ever built next to the M1.   In 1989 an M6 ran the La Carrera Classic Race in Mexico and reportedly recorded a top speed of 176 mph.

Today, the M6 is a well-sought after collector's car, and getting more valuable all the time.  It can be distinguished from other E24 models by a larger front air dam, a rear spoiler, BBS wheels, color matching side view mirrors, M badges on the grille and back, and slightly larger front brakes.  In North America (United States and Canada), the E24 M6 was fitted with the catalyzed S38B35 motor, producing 256 bhp.  The M6 was a "world car" with the same bumpers and aerodynamic treatments in all markets.  The American version of the M6 achieved 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) in a time of 6.8 seconds.  Car and Driver Magazine tested the American M6 and achieved 0–60 mph in 6.1 seconds.  Road and Track featured a U.S. M6 as one of the 10 fastest cars in America.  Production of the M6 ended in 1989, with 5,859 cars sold, with only 1,767 were imported to North America.

Here's the NADA Book Values for this automobile:   Original MSRP: $55,900;  Low Retail: $8,500;  Average Retail: $13,400, and High Retail: $20,400.

This M6 is in excellent condition.  It's fast and drives as good as it looks.   It is ready for the open road, and it can be driven anywhere.

HISTORY:

I am the 3rd owner of the car.  I have owned it about 6 years and originally purchased it from North Carolina, where it stayed in a warm climate, and was well cared for and in good shape!  The car has never been in an accident, and it is straight and clean.

ENGINE:

New oil pan and new headers.  New generator, and all belts replaced.  Recent tune-up, three new injectors, good compression in all cylinders, new plugs and wires.  Fresh oil & filter, new power steering fluid & filter, flush and refill coolant (OEM BMW), checked valve lash (All within spec).

BODY:

This is an original southern car which, to my knowledge, has always been garaged and never smoked in.  There is absolutely no rust and the BMW Arctic Blau paint is in excellent condition.   No accidents or body work.   The repaint was a year ago and looks excellent.   It is a two stage paint with clear coat (total cost was $4100).

INTERIOR:

The interior is in good to excellent condition with only some minor wear on the drivers seat.  The original dash is in excellent condition but it does a crack.  The rear deck & speaker pods are also in excellent condition.  Original Becker Blaupunkt stereo system.  Three way power seats, and heated. Both work.   All power windows work, so does the electric sun roof.   One note about the air conditioning, it does work however, the coolant leaks out after about a month.  Headliner is in excellent condition.  Rear seats are soft and leathery.

DRIVETRAIN:

The drivetrain is in excellent condition with a smooth shifting Getrag 280 5-speed and limited slip differential.  Trans. & Diff. fluid is fresh with Redline oils.  New clutch, nice tight.

SUSPENSION & STEERING:

Front suspension has new upper & lower control arms, center link, bushings and struts (Bilstein).  Original leveling suspension, accumulators and lines and work perfect.  Period correct BBS alloy wheels in great condition.

BRAKES:

Tires and brakes are in good condition, with lots of stopping power, but right caliper sometimes pulls to the right.

FINANCING:

Financing may be considered. Half down with payments over 6 months. Title provided after full balance is paid. Must have full comprehensive insurance on vehicle during payment period. Please contact me prior to bidding if you interested in this option.
