Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over fifty large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a seller will post all but the most flattering of photographs. We prefer to expose the complete roll of film taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this extraordinarily rare and original all stock example of an original southern California owner 1974 BMW 2002 Tii 2 Door Sports Sedan with the 4 speed manual transmission and dealer installed BEHR air conditioning from 1974! This is an always garaged car with no rust and no history of any accidents and an always babied example of the iconic 2002 Tii model, a rare and highly desirable internationally collectible BMW in a most desirable and very striking all blue color combination of original 'Silver blue' color paint with a matching dark blue interior and with only 95K original miles!

The BMW 2002 was the high performance limited edition model (1972-74) of the 2002 model line which changed the automobile world forever
with the introduction of an everyday compact 4 seater car with a measure of sportiness and sophistication, that along with BMW's legendary reputation for engineering and high quality construction, caught the attention of sport car enthusiasts the world over. It has since then become a cult icon that uniquely embodies the spirit of the 60's and 70's and none moreso than this most desirable fuel injected Tii model which boasted superior power and driveability and which was only sold in the US from 1972-74. The assembly, finish and workmanship of these cars was first rate but with a stark and business like 'no nonsense' approach with a black instrument panel, dished three spoke steering wheel which was designed to make easily visible the important speedometer, tach and fuel/temperature gauges, the unique and exclusive to the Tii clock to the right of the instrument cluster, hand cranked windows and in true sports car tradition there was no radio, no power steering, no door locks, no cruise control and naturally, no air bag! Please note that this particular car does have both the rare and for these models, luxurious, options of the dealer installed Blaupunkt radio with door speakers and BEHR air conditioning installed at 'Vasek Polak BMW' in 1974 and which both still work as well today as they did back then, almost forty years ago!

Simple as it was, the 2002 tii packed sophisiticated hardware with a monocoque chassis and rack and pinion steering with power front disc brakes. The tii reported 140HP was also plenty for this 2.0L compact and light sports car. The secret ingredient being its 'Kugelfischer' fuel injection which allowed for precise fuel metering at all RPM ranges mated to a 4 speed manual transmission
. The wider wheels and upgraded suspension on these cars soaks up bumps and dips with impressive ease and these cars were noted for their exceptional ride quality when new and they still prove to be the most fun you will ever have in a small sedan. These cachet cars put BMW on the map and they still compare and drive well even to todays standards, weighing only 2,225 lbs and with a top speed of 118mph!

The BMW 2002 series (1968-76) was a well loved and highly successful 2.0L version of BMW's smaller sedan the 1600, unchanged in dimensions or basic appearances from the original 1600 and which is credited with creating the compact sporting sedan with a high performance engine, sporting suspension and handsome sports car features and the legendary 2002 Tii was a limited edition top of the line fuel injected version that was imported to the US from 1972-74. They are icons of the industry and highly sough after internationally. To find one like this particular example in such exemplary condition and virtually completely stock without modifications is unusually rare. Over the years, most have either been abused or have rusted out and most of the survivors have been either overly restored or modified beyond recognition. The
Tii was superior and not comparable to the regular 2002 model in many respects with the Kugelfischer Fuel Injection System, 13mm steel wheels, larger brake booster, larger wheel cylinders, larger front brakes, larger front hubs and spindles, larger exhaust manifold and larger brake master cylinder.

This particular model is quite stunning and very rare in that apart from one repaint some years ago in its original color, it is an all stock and all original example which when compared to the majority of over restored or modified examples is totally unique! It was purchased by its original and only southern California from 'Vasek Polak BMW' of Hermosa Beach, California on 2/2/1974 and was always primarily serviced at the dealership throughout the years and it will be sold with the original owners California pink slip, dealer stamped owners manuals and service booklet and original dealer warranties etc and some of the documented service records!

This particular car is f
inished in its original and beautiful factory color combination of 'Silver blue' exterior paint with its all original matching dark blue interior, all of which is in quite exceptional and all original condition, apart from one repaint! There have been no accidents or damage or previous rust! A truly obviously always babied and pampered example if there ever was one which had been owned for many years by its original and proud southern California owner before we recently purchased the car from him. The cars older repaint in its original 'Silver blue' color is still in quite beautiful condition with only very minor imperfections noticeable only upon close inspection. The matching dark blue interior is also in beautiful condition with virtually no signs of any major wear!

The car drives exactly like such a low original mileage and well maintained model should and must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated! The 2.0 litre fuel injected engine is extremely strong and powerful and the four speed manual transmission has a very smooth transmission shift  through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool!

You will surely look long and hard to find a finer example of this original southern California owners all stock and exceptionally clean and cherished and very rare and internationally desirable 1974 BMW 2002 Tii 2 door sports sedan model with working air conditioning for the ultimate time warp driving experience in this most desirable of color combinations!
