1955 Thunderbird

"The introductory T-Bird had style in spades, owing to its low, two-seat bodywork. (Ford pointed out in advertising that the Thun­derbird's height from the cowl to the ground was just slightly more than three feet.) It had a 102-inch wheelbase -- more than a foot shorter than a 1955 Ford sedan -- yet borrowed heavily from the many new styling touches adopted for the year's full-size Fords. The Thunderbird managed to avoid being cluttered with excessive chrome trim or outlandish two-tone paint schemes."

According to the current owner, this Thunderbird was acquired by him from an estate sale about 8 years ago and was restored prior to his ownership.  Please let all the pictures load (there are over 120) to see the great condition of this rare Ford.  We don't know everything that was done over the years, the following is what we do know. The odometer shows 93,000 miles and is believed to be correct, but the car is being sold as exempt because of the age. Originally from New Mexico, it appears to be an older professional restoration to stock condition with some recent cosmetic improvements.  The car was repainted the original Raven Black, all the exterior chrome and trim has either been replaced or replated as needed, the interior has been redone and the undercarriage is exceptionally solid and clean.  The engine is a rebuilt 292  V-8 mated to a 3 speed automatic transmission, it has power steering and power brakes.  Within the last few years it has received a new convertible top, new carpeting, new tires and some general maintenance items.  For all the car guys out there what follows are the details.

This car looks and runs terrific and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.

While this is not a #1 show piece, it is very nice and is sure to take home some awards (and has in the past) at any local or regional car show.

Please remember that this car is 58 years old and not perfect. The paint has some minor imperfections too small to see in the photos, the clock and temperature gage are inoperable.
