The 750li got a new V-8 engine for 2009 that's smaller but makes more power than the previous engine — 400 horsepower, to be exact. It's quite a performer in the 750Li, too.
When cruising at highway speeds, the sedan's six-speed automatic transmission is always at the ready for a quick kickdown if you need more power. Plant the gas pedal, and it downshifts immediately. The transmission is smooth enough in city driving and an absolute pleasure at highway speeds. This truly is a great drivers vehicle!

The Inside
You'll find the interior styling is new, however BMW has taken an evolutionary approach to the design in the interior. You'll find rich materials like wood trim and stitched leather. BMW finally upped it's game to be on par with the S-Class' cabin. So, we're on a level playing field now.
You'll also find a stalk like gear selector on the new generation console that looks eerily similar to that what is in the BMW X5. Looks and operates like a fancy joystick; there's not the backward or forward movement through the gears like in most traditional gear selectors. Instead, you can just rock it forward or backward to shift into Reverse or into Drive. Super easy!

There are some minor revisions to the iDrive system, which is standard. It still operates by rotating and nudging the large dial on the center console, but now there are more direct access buttons around the knob for controlling the stereo and navigation system, etc. On screen menus are so critical to these knob based systems, however this new BMW system is quite intuitive and very easy to operate and control.
The 750Li's outboard rear seats are quite comfortable. They're covered in upscale leather, and the backrest itself is nicely sculpted, which provides some extra support around the shoulders.
