Up for sale we have a real treat for all you Super Sport Chevelle fans. This is a 1966 Chevy Chevelle SS with 138 vine and the matching #s 396. It was bought new in Athens TN and was owned by the same family its’ whole life. This car is rock solid with all factory sheet metal and pans. It has had one repaint and comes with a lot of Miscellaneous paper work including the original Registration. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and heartbeat of the Chevy, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.

Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. We will start off with the exterior of the Chevelle. The body is laser straight with all factory sheet metal. The body lines are as good as you will see with good panel fit. Everything is covered in the Tuxedo Black paint that is done in base coat clear coat. At the time of the repaint it was stripped to bare metal where it was prepped meticulously. They then spent hours buffing and polishing to ensure a deep rich shine that you can easily see. As far as we can tell all the glass is correct to the car. The stainless and chrome also looks to be the factory parts, but show very well. The weather stripping was replaced at the time of the repaint. This Chevelle has a new set of Red Line BFG tires mounted on a new set of 15x8 Black Steel Wheels.

Next, we will take a look at the interior of the Super Sport. Everything on the inside looks as it did in ’66. It has the correct bucket seats and console with the factory shifter. The seat covers, carpet, and door panels all look very good. We believe them to be original, but we don’t know for sure if they have been replaced or not. The only thing that appears to have been added is a set of aftermarket gauges. It has the factory AM radio and the correct seat belts still.

Finally, we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it’s powered by the Matching # 396 V* that is mated to the Power Glide trans and 12 Bolt Rear End. The engine is dressed with stock valve covers and an aftermarket breather. It has the correct manifolds and a set of dual exhaust with stock style mufflers. This Chevelle has Power Steering and the stock 4 wheel Drum Brakes. When you look under it all the floor look great with no signs of any damage or rot and the frame also looks good. This Chevelle has the ball joint extension to set the front end up so it will still drive well.

This is a great car that has been owned by the same family since ’66 and presents a rare opportunity to own such a nice car.
