ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is a nice, driver-quality pickup. I'm an old-car guy (currently putting my '72 Plymouth station wagon back on the road, actually), and I can appreciate an older "utility" vehicle like this. Apparently the market appreciates them too - book value on this one in "rough" condition is $6100; "average" is $10,900; and "excellent" is $19,000!!

They made a ton of these styleside 2 wheel drives - nearly 225,000 in '66 - but most folks worked them to death and they were simply beat up, used up, discarded, and replaced with something newer. Not this one. This isn't a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration here...but it's a neat, relatively straight, totally driveable old truck.

See? Not bad!

This isn't "my" truck, it was a trade-in here at our RV dealership. I can tell you what we were told by the owner when he traded it - yes, it was originally a 240 c.i. 6 cylinder with a 3 speed, and has been converted over to what looks to be a period correct FE V8 with nice mandrel bent dual exhaust, an automatic transmission with a shift kit (it'll chirp the tires going into second), and a traction-lok 9" rear. Admittedly, I'm a Mopar guy so I don't know if the power disc brakes or the power steering were factory on a '66 or if they're updates like the rest, but I did find in some research that this was the second year for this Twin-I-Beam frame...and they used it up until the late 1970s, so I'd imagine swapping in late-model pieces would be fairly simple. And...it all works on here - the brakes have good feel and stopping power, and the power steering is really nice to have especially with a non-tilt column and a small wheel.

It's definitely a "work in progress" but the nice thing about that is...you can still incorporate your own choices in the finished product. There's a couple patch areas in each doorjamb, and the owner admitted it was a "cheap Maaco" paint job, but overall it doesn't look too bad! There's a couple scrapes here and there, but hey...it's a truck!

Like I said - it appears to be from the correct time period. There's some newer wiring in the nose (Painless?), and a newer radiator, but all in all it looks pretty cool under here.

Some parking lot shots of the underside - not too shabby for nearly FIFTY years old!!

I did get some time on our motorhome lift...so here are some more detailed underside shots. Not perfect...but definitely not a basket case!

I couldn't really pinpoint the source of the "wet" underneath, but the engine does not smoke, it does not overheat, it does not tic, it has great oil pressure showing on the gauge, and like I said - that transmission has some work done because it GRABS the gears.

We know not many folks are looking for a 48 year old pickup truck...but we also know, some ARE. It's just...COOL. And being a bunch of gearheads here at the dealership...we went ahead and took it on trade towards an RV. Now, it's your chance to have a neat parts-chaser, weekend cruise-in driver, or restoration project - its a great starting point, and since its already non-original you don't have to sweat "changing stuff" in order to make it what you want. Paint it, tub it, throw a late model EFI smallblock in it, put it back to original...do whatever YOU want to it, because whatever you do, it'll be unique and you'll stand out from the crowd!

If you are going to bid on one of our items, keep these "top ten" details in mind:

1Availability. We're a LARGE dealership - over a dozen acres, more than 400 units (new and used) in stock on any given day, and are consistently rated the #1 RV Dealer in the state of Maryland. That means...we have a LOT of people looking at (and BUYING) our items. If you like it, if you want it, if you "gotta have it"...buy it before someone else does!!

2. Item condition. I post LOTS of photos in my ads so you can see what you are bidding on. If I find an issue...I tell you all about it. If the item is nice...I tell you all about that, too.

3Inspections. I DO NOT have our shop inspect any of our eBay units, unless it specifically says I did in the auction listing. That's part of how I save you so much money - by selling items as-is, where-is, just like if you were buying it out of my driveway in a private sale.

4. Our location - we are where we are, we do not ship, it is up to our buyers to pick up their purchase or book their own shipper to pick it up for them.

5. Our office hours. Just like a car dealer, or a bank, or a restaurant, there are hours when we're here...and hours when we're closed. I’m only one guy doing ALL the eBay work here, and just like you…I can’t possibly work 24/7. Please plan to pick up your purchase when we are open for business - Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm (east coast time).

6. Item pick-up. We do not ship. You are welcome to book your own shipper once you have purchased and paid in full for the item, and I will gladly work with any shipper you send after your item.

7. Pricing. I get as many discounts out of my boss as possible when I write these listings. Most times, our Buy It Now prices are THOUSANDS of dollars below our retail pricing - I've DONE the negotiating for you. And any advertised price is for the ITEM ONLY – no tax, no tag fees, no title fees, no accessories, no labor – unless otherwise noted in the auction listing.

8. Payment. If you win the auction, you are expected to make your $500 downpayment in 24 hours and pay for the item within seven days. Accepted payment methods are cash in person; electronic wire transfer; or certified check (US residents only). Failure to pay for the item in the required time can result in a report to a collections agency and a cancellation of the sale without any refunds, so please - only bid if you intend to buy.

9. Financing. If you need to finance, click HERE, keeping in mind that my banks prefer newer items (less than 10 years old), local buyers (close to Maryland), good credit history, and decent downpayments.

10. Frequently Asked Questions. I have a whole PAGE devoted to FAQ's in our eBay store. Click HERE to see if your question and answer are there.

We're family owned and operated!

Click here for our location on Mapquest.

We employ over 100 people, cover more than a dozen acres, have an 11,375 square foot service facility equipped with state of the art tools and specialty service items, and a fully-stocked retail parts and accessories store. Even as large as we are, we're not a chain-store. The owners are on-site every single day working with us to make sure our buyers are as happy as possible.

On any given day we have over 300 units (new and used) in stock and ready to go - everything from teardrops and popups, truck campers through travel trailers and fifth wheels, up to class A, B, C, and diesel pusher motorhomes. eBay is a way for us to reach out to even more RV shoppers, so we can spread the love of RVing far and wide! If one of my listings is close to what you're looking for...email me. I probably have (or can get) exactly what you're looking for.

Some sellers on eBay are all about price. What about value? Look at my listings carefully - my price may look higher than the other guy's, but make sure you check their listings for extra fees. I have NONE.

NO SURPRISE FEES AT BECKLEY'S RV'S!!

If you live in Maryland, I collect tax, tag, and title fees for the state and that's it. If you live somewhere else, I don't collect for your home state - I get $20 for a temp tag, and that's all. No surprises, NO EXTRA FEES, NO EXTRA CHARGES. Ask the other guy what they charge - you'll probably get a different answer from them.

If you have questions about this item, please ask!

If you need an answer outside my office hours...EMAIL ME.

My name is Joe, and my office hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm (East Coast time)

Email is ALWAYS the best way to get in touch with me!

If you prefer to call during my office hours, my number is 800-296-6959.

MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR JOE!!

Please - make note of my office hours before you call.

If you email after-hours, tell me if your question is urgent and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can. If there's no "urgent" tag in the email, I will answer it along with all other emails first thing the next work day.

I answer all my emails PERSONALLY.

No auto-responder here!! You won't hear from a computer, or a "response center" - you'll get an answer from ME!

If you have a question about an item that has ended, you need to TELL ME what the item is. The eBay email system does not include any item information once an auction has ended, all it says is "so and so asked a question". Tell me you're asking about the 2009 Cougar travel trailer, or the 1998 Dodge pickup truck, or whatever the item is, so I can get you an answer quickly.
