1955 Chevrolet 210 Station Wagon with ’07 Chevrolet Avalanche Vortec 5300 (5.3L) truck engine transplant done by known Father and Son team  “STOKER’S Hot Rod Factory” of Upland California,  just around the corner from the legendary Pomona Drag Strip and NHRA Museum.

Without their visionary approach, this very dry California workhorse, originally out of Pasadena with a six cylinder engine, would not exist. Their maiden voyage upon completion of the car, was a pilgrimage to Bonneville where the car was enthusiastically received. Note their nostalgic, color coordinated hand painted shop logo displayed on both rear quarters of the car. This being their signature turn-key ride/ parts runner at the time.

Car has all the charm and warmth of a nice old original paint California sun-baked ’55 Chevy wagon throughout.  An absolute exercise in cosmetic restraint, camouflaging the high tech upgrades entirely, until you open the hood.  Fun reliable car built to be driven.

A substantial custom receiver hitch and air shocks have been installed for your vintage camper or travel trailer as well. 300 + hp on tap can handle the task with the rear cargo area loaded. Rear seat folds flat as shown.

Multi page feature on the build of the car in December, 2013  SUPER CHEVY Magazine:

What's a Vortec 5300?

Displacement: 325ci

Engine block: Cast-iron

Cylinder heads: Aluminum 15-degree cathedral port

Bore & stroke: 3.780 x 3.622

Compression: 9.5:1-10:1

Power: 285-320 hp and 325-340 lb-ft

Used in: 1999+ mid/full-size trucks and SUVs.

Mated to a TH350 (3-speed automatic) transmission.

Power steering and Power front disc brakes by CLASSIC PERFORMANCE.  Fresh under dash, period looking and very effective “VINTAGE AIR” A/C system uses a “QWIK PERFORMANCE” bracket mounting kit for a super nice fitment to the single serpentine belt drive of the LS1 powerplant.

The ice cold A/C in this car works extremely well. Ask my Siberian Samoyed “Casper” who enjoys sleeping, chin on my right knee, with his nose buried in front of the outlet ducting, when we’re on the road.

One of Stoker's goodies is the micro adjustable LS retrofit motor mount system they manufacture, showcased  in this car, allowing the engine to be moved forward 1-1/4"for firewall clearance. Balanced drive shaft was modified accordingly and the car runs comfortably at 80 mph. on mildly lowered stock suspension.  ’72 NOVA (exact dimensional retro-fit) rear axle assembly is geared very nicely for highway performance, yet will chirp the tires into second gear, if requested.

Period correct and coveted, original (real deal) magnesium AMERICAN RACING WHEELS on all four corners, not aluminum reproductions.

Front radials are 205/65-15”, rears are 215/70-15 for a nice raked stance.

A new, ’55 wagon specific fuel tank has been installed for longevity, as well as new headliner, sun visors and seat upholstery (front and rear) surrounded by period green loop and bound carpet.  Original accessory front and rear bumper guards remain.

All door panels and operating hardware are original to the car with original trim intact. The rear cargo area has been left factory original and the worn linoleum ribbed flooring remains as shown in the photos.

The LS engine runs on stock Avalanche exhaust manifolds allowing for a very quiet two into one exhaust system. Once again, part of the stealth exterior presentation of the car.

Shut lines throughout the car are undisturbed and all doors, including tailgate, shut with an authoritative “thunk”.

The factory ‘07 Avalanche under hood wiring harness was kept entirely intact, including fly by wire accelerator, and all routine diagnostics are done via the plug-in module installed conveniently beneath the dash, to the left of the steering column.

Outside temperature here in Southern California has been hovering around 100 degrees last few days, and the car runs a consistently desirable 195-200 degrees engine temp at speed with windows up, A/C on.

Put your foot into it, and you realize what this car is all about, all the while achieving an average of 23 + mpg. as a daily driver.

Questions concerning the car?  Please do not hesitate to inquire.  Ten day listing being sold to the highest bidder. International bidders are most welcome.

 Take Care, Eric
