VW bringing Fox Pepper, Saveiro Surf to Sao Paulo show
Sat, 18 Oct 2014We've gotten used to the idea of Volkswagen keeping certain models like the Scirocco and Amarok to the European market and not bringing them to North America, but the German automaker also has a full line of vehicles made right here in the Americas that don't make it to US showrooms either. Those are the products of Volkswagen do Brasil, which has just revealed two new debuts for the upcoming Sao Paulo Motor Show.
First up is the Fox Pepper, a spicy little concept based on VW's sub-Polo hatchback. The show car features a front bumper and honeycomb grille with red lower lip (like you might find on a GTI), contrasting wheel arch extensions (like you might on the Golf Alltrack revealed in Paris), a black roof, 15-inch alloys and an interior decked out in two-tone leather and all the bells and whistles. Power comes from a 1.6-liter that burns ethanol to the tune of 120 horsepower to send it to 62 miles per hour in 9.8 seconds (or 10.3 on ordinary gasoline).
VW is also showcasing the similarly Fox-based Saveiro Surf. Starting with the single-cab version of the recently revised Saveiro ute, the Surf packs a less potent version of the same engine with 104 hp on tap, along with cosmetic upgrades including a unique set of 15-inch wheels, honeycomb grille, roof bar, unique graphics and, of course, a surf board resting in the bed.

Com conteúdo de série baseado no do Novo Fox Highline, o Novo Fox Pepper traz uma série de recursos de tecnologia e segurança, como Controle Eletrônico de Estabilidade (ESC) e o controle de tração (TC e ASR). Esportividade, por dentro e por fora
O estilo ousado do Fox Pepper é evidenciado pelo teto preto, com pintura especial e acabamento premium. Soma-se a isso o novo para-choque dianteiro, com visual mais robusto do que o restante da linha Fox. Assim como no Novo CrossFox, no Novo Fox Pepper os faróis auxiliares – que contam com aros pintados em preto brilhante – têm formato retangular e tripla função, funcionando como faróis de neblina, faróis de longo alcance. E estes faróis ainda tem a opção das luzes de conversão estática (também conhecidas por "Cornering lights").
Chama a atenção também a grade frontal, em formato de colmeia e com friso vermelho horizontal, inspirada na do Novo Golf GTI. Além disso, a máscara do farol é mais escurecida (menos metalização), conferindo maior esportividade ao modelo. Ainda no para-choque dianteiro há um aplique pintado em Chrome Effect.
Passando para a vista lateral, chamam a atenção os retrovisores (com luz de direção integrada) pintados em Preto Ninja. Combinando com esses pontos, a coluna "B" (central) traz um adesivo preto brilhante, em harmonia com o teto preto. A saia lateral destaca o contraste das cores Preto Ninja e Vermelho Tornado, a mesma da carroceria. Mais um item esportivo.

Novo motor 1.6l MSI, da família EA211
O Novo Fox Pepper exposto no Salão do Automóvel de São Paulo é equipado com o novo motor 1.6l MSI, da família EA211, que acaba de estrear na linha Fox. Com até 120 cv (etanol), esse motor conta com quatro válvulas por cilindro, sistema E-Flex de partida a frio aquecida (que dispensa o tanque auxiliar de combustível), coletor de escape integrado ao cabeçote, bloco e cabeçote de alumínio, comando variável de válvulas, duplo circuito de arrefecimento e duplo comando de válvulas integrado à tampa do cabeçote.

A nova versão da Saveiro Surf será um das novidades que será apresentada pela Volkswagen durante o Salão Internacional do Automóvel de São Paulo, ente 30 de outubro e 9 de novembro. Com apelo jovial e conteúdo exclusivo, a Saveiro Surf é oferecida com carroceria cabine simples – garantindo máximo espaço para carga na caçamba – e traz visual diferenciado, além de uma ampla gama de equipamentos de série.
O ar esportivo da Saveiro Surf resulta de uma série de detalhes de acabamento, começando pela grade dianteira tipo colmeia em preto brilhante, realçada por um friso cromado. Os faróis dianteiros são duplos, com máscara negra, e os faróis de neblina, incorporados ao para-choque, são equipamentos de série.
