Renault Megane gets family facelift for Frankfurt

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Automotive designers tread a thin line in making their lineup look consistent. Get it right and there'll be a familiar appearance to the whole range; get it wrong and all the cars will look the same and you won't be able to tell the difference between them. Now Renault has updated one of its core model lines in an effort to put it on the right side of that line.

Renault has tweaked the nose on its full Megane range, including the three-door hatch, five-door hatch and wagon as well as the Renaultsport and GT variants. The changes revolve principally around the new larger grille dominating the fascias of Renault's latest models. All three bodystyles get the same front bumper and hood as well as new elliptical headlights, while the sportier versions get their own look with gloss black headlight surrounds.

The updated models will debut in Frankfurt this week, where we'll be able to see how the changes come across in person and against the backdrop of the rest of the Renault lineup.

Renault family styling for the Mégane line-up

The lines of the new-look Mégane revealed shortly before the model's official presentation at the International Frankfurt Motor Show.

As Renault continues to deploy its new design identity across its model range, it is the Mégane line-up's turn to incorporate the brand's latest front-end styling.

The change ensures greater unity between the front ends of Mégane Hatchback, Mégane Estate and Mégane Coupé which feature the same bumper and bonnet, although each version maintains its own distinctive identity. They are also equipped with new elliptical headlights.

The new styling identity has been carried over to the line-up's sporty models, too. Mégane R.S. and Mégane GT both boast an even more dynamic stance and a new front-end design, as well as new headlights with gloss black eyelids.

The new range is due to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of next year, and in the course of 2014 in the model's other markets.

More important details about Renault Mégane will be revealed on the Renault stand at the 2013 International Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10.
