Up for auction we have a 2002 Volvo XC 70 wagon . What I can tell you about this wagon is that it was traded in as a running and driving car shifting through the gears as it should with a smooth running Volvo engine . What has subsequently happened is it has developed a knocking noise under the car which is directly related to the drivetrain not the engine , it sounds like either a universal joint on one of the drive shafts has gone bad or my second guess would be the differential . We have not diagnosed it any further than that , it was out intention to clean it up and sell it on the lot for around $3500 however here it sits months later and we have done nothing about it so I have decided to clean house so to speak .It is drivable at low speed so you could drive it onto a trailer , I would not attempt to drive it home since the nocking noise started I have not driven it over 20 miles an hour . It has been priced as a parts car which it would make an awesome parts car as most of the panels etc are in decent shape , rims look awesome , engine is clean , interior not bad although the front seats have split and I would consider buying 2 used seats or putting a seat cover over it . Electric windows appear to work . Overall it is a car with a lot of potential for the right person , if you need an engine or parts it may be well worth parting out although if you are mechanically minded you may want to fix it up to you . Please if you do not have the funds or want to make an offer please make sure you do have the money in hand as this is not a game to us as we are a small business and we rely on getting paid so we too can pay others we owe money to . We will convey with clear Maryland title . Please feel free to e-mail with any questions WE CANNOT SELL THIS TO A MD RESIDENT AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT INSPECTED DUE TO THE KNOCKING NOISE

New Volvo ad remembers the joy of rear-facing jump seats

Mon, 19 May 2014

With the rise in popularity of first the minivan and later the crossover as the default family vehicle, there have been about 20 years of children who have missed out on the joy of rear-facing jump seats in station wagons. It means kids today don't know the pleasure to be found in making faces or lewd gestures at other drivers while their parents can't see. Plus, they don't know the slightly nauseous feeling of watching the world pass by in reverse. However, a group of filmmakers look back with nostalgia at this increasingly uncommon automotive feature in a new ad for the 2015 Volvo V60.
As part of its sponsorship of the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, Volvo commissions a team each year to create an advertisement to be shown during the festival. This year's shows how the company's buyers have gone from riding in the back to driving the brand's cars. Scroll down to check out the charming ad, along with some wistful looks at classic Volvo wagons, before the jump seat is forgotten.

Watch Volvo's V8 Supercar drivers play with the Polestar S60 in the Arctic

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

The Volvo S60 Polestar may not seem like a natural fit for the V8 Supercars series that runs throughout Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. After all, the all-wheel-drive production-spec car isn't even available with a V8. But the rear-wheel-drive racing version has acquitted itself well in the early races of the season, even scoring an overall win at a race in Melbourne. Currently at seventh place in the championship, the S60 the most successful car that isn't a Holden or Ford.
To celebrate its burgeoning success, Volvo sent its V8 Supercars drivers Robert Dahlgren and Scott McLaughlin to home base in Sweden to have some fun driving in the snow and to visit Polestar headquarters. The two of them do some big power slides on an icy lake and then taker a deeper look into the company's performance division. Scroll down to watch the video full of sliding Swedish sedans.

Volvo to complete concept car trilogy in Geneva

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Volvo went through some doldrums around the same time it was bought by Geely, but it proved that it was back when it unveiled the P1800-inpsired Concept Coupe last August at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It followed up with the sleek Concept XC Coupe crossover (pictured above) in Detroit that echoed the next-generation XC90. Now, the Swede is readying one more concept to bring the trilogy to an end, and act as the centerpiece of its display at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
There are no images of the new concept yet, not even a teaser, but Volvo says that like the other two, it's designed by Thomas Ingenlath and shares common design elements. Since it has already imagined a future coupe and crossover, maybe the concept is a sedan. Volvo has confirmed that it rides on the modular Scalable Product Architecture platform that is being used on multiple future production models and uses its new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family.
The Concept Coupe and Concept XC Coupe will be on display with the new concept in Geneva so that visitors can get a complete idea of Volvo's future. Hopefully, the company has finally righted the course and is ready to compete on the world stage again. Scroll down to read Volvo's few details about the new concept.
