Listing my wife's 2005 Volvo XC70.   She is the 3rd owner and a CARFAX is available upon request.  It does have nearly 215K miles, but it is not uncommon to see these Volvo's with the I-5 engine running well over 200K miles without trouble.  It does not leak fluids and does not smoke whatsoever.  Air conditioning blows ice cold.  Tires are nearly new.  Oil change was just completed at the dealership about 300 miles ago.  The opening bid represents half the blue book value according to NADA, with same options and mileage.  There is no reserve, so first bid guarantees sale.

If financing the car, please get pre-approved PRIOR to bidding.

There are two cosmetic issues to mention.  First, a crack runs along the top of the back bumper.  This is absolutely cosmetic and does not effect the safety at all.  Second, there are scratches where windshield wipers run along the windshield and the metal dug into the glass.  I have been told they can be buffed out, but have not done this myself yet.  Mechanically, there is just one issue.  There is a rattling noise coming from the front left of the car whenever it travels over bumps.  I have not been able to find this.  We bought the car with the rattling and it has not gotten worse or better in the time we have had it.  It may be a strut, but the car handles very well in turns and over bumps, so I'm thinking maybe not.  The front tires do not wear unevenly nor does it pull in either direction.  So honestly I don't have a clue where the rattling comes from.

The car is located in Mechanicsburg, PA, about 90 minutes north of Washington DC or Baltimore, 2 hours west of Philadelphia, and 2.5 hours West of New York City.  Closest airport is MDT.  Also, one way rental cars using Hertz may be dropped off 3 miles from where we live.

Car must be paid in full within 72 hours.  Accepted forms of payment are cash (in person of course) and wire transfer only.  I do not accept paypal (although you do need an account to bid on the car).

Ready to bid? If you intend on bidding, and have had the account for less then 30 days, or have only bought/sold 15 items or less, you will need to contact me PRIOR to bidding or your bid will be cancelled.  Thanks for your understanding.

eBay messages also come straight to my Smart phone,
so I can respond very quickly.

Thanks for your attention and happy bidding.

Volvo details upcoming XC90's new scalable platform

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

In two weeks' time, we'll be boarding a flight for Stockholm for the live reveal of the new Volvo XC90. But before we do, Volvo has revealed another round of salient details regarding not only its new crossover, but a whole range of new vehicles to share its architecture.
That platform is called Scalable Product Architecture, and it follows the latest industry trend towards modular platforms. The product of four years' development, the new platform uses high-strength boron steel to optimize weight and rigidity. The scalable architecture, set to underpin the next-generation S60, V60, XC60, S80 and anything larger, offers designers more flexibility in terms of proportions. It can be adapted to a wide range of vehicles of different shapes and sizes, designed from the get-go to incorporate a range of powertrains (including the XC90's new twin-charged hybrid system) and all the latest safety technologies you'd expect from a Volvo.
The XC90, Volvo has revealed, will also offer increased interior flexibility, with movable second and third rows to optimize cargo space and legroom as needed. That third row is designed to accommodate children (or small adults) up to five-foot-seven. Meanwhile the image inset above gives us our first glimpse at the new XC90's styling, with T-shaped running lights inspired by Thor's hammer.

Volvo shows glimpses of new Concept C Coupe ahead of Frankfurt [w/video]

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Volvo has released a short teaser video for a concept car that will be unveiled on August 29 ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show. At first glance, it would appear to be nothing more than a few sketches and some words from Volvo design boss Thomas Ingenlath, but at about the 11-second mark, four images are flashed on the screen revealing the true nature of the video - the Volvo Concept C Coupe.
As Inglenlath suggests in the video, this new concept is designed to help bring more excitement to the brand's lineup, and from what we can tell in these strategically captured shots, the company is definitely on to something. While we don't get too much of look from any one angle, the front reveals what appears to be a concave version of Volvo's signature grille and the side shows off a stylish greenhouse. We have to wonder, do these images confirm the identity of the mystery concept car that's been floating around the Internet this week? In either case, our favorite view is perhaps the rear shot giving us a glimpse of the car's name as well as its flat, wide haunches and C-shaped taillights.
Scroll down to watch the whole video, and if you don't have a trigger-quick mouse finger, don't worry. We made a gallery of screen shots showing the four embedded images.

Volvo pranks newest valet on the Italian Riviera

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

Being a valet on the Italian Riviera seems like a pretty sweet gig for a young guy. Not only do you get to watch beautiful people coming and going all day and night, but there's the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a plethora of exotic sports cars. Of course, being responsible for those expensive vehicles has to be pretty nerve wracking to get used to on the first day.
In a new commercial, Volvo pranks a new valet at the San Remo Casino to see how he would handle a surprise showing up on the red carpet. If the look on his face in the screenshot above doesn't show it, he's pretty shocked by what he sees. We don't want to spoil the reveal, so just watch the ad to find out. Afterward, if you're interested in the details behind how Volvo made it happen, you can check out a short, making-of documentary, here.
