Automatic transmisson, shifts into all gears. No issues with slipping. 4 cylinder b234 series motor, extremely reliable and easy to work on, Timing belt was replaced by volvo at 150k. It is a little rough when starting cold, but smooths out after a few min. Would probably do good with a simple tune up. Runs and drives great for age and miles, smooth and straight down the road. steering is tight and responsive and the breaks are smooth and work well. The body is in great shape, no rust. There is a dent in the rear hatch - you can clearly see in the pictures. No chips or cracks in the glass. Aside from the rear hatch dent, the rest of the body is free of any major dents and dings. Expect normal wear and tear. The suspension is solid and doesn't make any strange noises. All 4 tires have about 40% tread life remaining. Interior is in pretty good nick, you can see the condition of all the seats. No rips or tears and the seats are comfortable to sit in. No strange smells. Dash is complete, no broken trim pieces. Volvo already planning road-going V8 Supercar?
Sat, 15 Mar 2014After decades of cat-and-mouse battle waged between Holden and Ford, Australia's V8 Supercars series has expanded considerably. Mercedes and Nissan both joined the grid last season, and Volvo has followed suit this year. So when 2014 championship kicked off earlier this month in Adelaide, everyone was watching to see who would come out on top.
The answer is Holden, which took first place in all three of the weekend's races. In fact the General Motors division locked out the podium in the first and third races and took first and third places in the second race, letting just one other manufacturer onto the podium the entire weekend - and that was Volvo. The Polestar S60 scored second place on its first race weekend, beating all the Nissan Altimas, the Mercedes E63 AMGs, the Ford Falcons and most of the Holden Commodores.
Now that's hardly winning the championship, but it's a very solid debut. And that point was not lost on the people back at headquarters in Sweden, who are already thinking about making a roadgoing version of the race-spec V8 Supercar.
New Volvo ad remembers the joy of rear-facing jump seats
Mon, 19 May 2014With the rise in popularity of first the minivan and later the crossover as the default family vehicle, there have been about 20 years of children who have missed out on the joy of rear-facing jump seats in station wagons. It means kids today don't know the pleasure to be found in making faces or lewd gestures at other drivers while their parents can't see. Plus, they don't know the slightly nauseous feeling of watching the world pass by in reverse. However, a group of filmmakers look back with nostalgia at this increasingly uncommon automotive feature in a new ad for the 2015 Volvo V60.
As part of its sponsorship of the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, Volvo commissions a team each year to create an advertisement to be shown during the festival. This year's shows how the company's buyers have gone from riding in the back to driving the brand's cars. Volvo previews Concept XC Coupe ahead of Detroit reveal [w/video]
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Volvo is in the midst of a three-stage design revolution. The first stage came with the reveal of the Concept Coupe in Frankfurt just this past September. What you see here is our first glimpse at the second stage.
The Volvo Concept XC Coupe previewed here will be unveiled in full on January 8 in advance of the Detroit Auto Show. While the previous concept was all sleek, the Concept XC Coupe takes a more rugged, utilitarian approach with a hatchback roofline, higher ride height, knobbier tires, lower body cladding and a rooftop box. From what we can see, it looks like a cross between the previous concept and an XC70 wagon that could preview a soft-road replacement for the C30 hatchback.
