VERY RARE Volvo 740 Turbo 5speed Manual!!

This was owned by Volvo tech and collector in Maryland for most of its life. Very well taken care of and maintained. NO RUST ANYWHERE!!

Engine runs excellent, plenty of power, Turbo spools perfectly, gears shift very well. All electric windows work, very reliable daily driver condition. It has new exhaust from cat back. No fluid leaks, engine in very nice shape. Tires have 80% tread, has current state inspection sticker and clean title. Included are 5 green Volvo tech books from original owner. This car has never seen a northeast winter.

Things needed- Has small ding above drivers side front wheel (see pic).
Could use front brake pads.
AC was converted to 134, but needs charge.
Seats have no rips or stains but are a little worn. (Im picky)
Dash has 3-4 cracks.
Radio not working (may be fuse issue).
Needs headliner replaced.
Paint on trunk is faded, sun got to it.
Needs new antenna.

Overall nice shape for a 20+ year old rare car, currently in daily driver condition but could easily be in collectible state. Good luck finding a 740 turbo manual, as you Volvo fans know they are very rare! Especially the most desirable year 1989 before they went to single headlight front in 90.

Car is located in Portsmouth NH, 1 hour north of Boston. I can meet at local airports.

2015 Volvo XC90 mule spotted testing in the snow

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

The Volvo XC90 was a big step for the Swedish automaker in 2003, but the midsize crossover has changed very little since its introduction. All that's about to change as Volvo starts its initial development on the 2015 XC90, which we see for the first time in these spy shots showing a cobbled-together XC70.
Like the current XC90, the next-generation model will be both longer and wider than the XC70 - judging by the modifications made to this mule's body - which will continue to allow Volvo's flagship crossover and provide three rows of seating. The next XC90 will ride on a new platform that will eventually make up around two-thirds of all Volvo sales, called the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).
Our shooter managed to find out the registration number for this mule, which indicated that it was powered by a five-cylinder diesel, but we expect the automaker to start stepping away from its current powertrains with a big push toward smaller engines courtesy of the new Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA). Rumor has it that the future engine lineup for the XC90 will rely heavily on turbocharged four-cylinder engines and eight-speed automatic transmissions, which will likely eliminate or lessen some of the current mills available like a straight-six or V8.

Jeremy Lin's new Volvo has him working out with the XC60

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Jeremy Lin rose to prominence as a point guard for the New York Knicks in February of 2012 when he came out of nowhere to lead the team to a string of victories. Volvo was quick to notice and signed him as the company's US spokesperson that March. Since then, he has starred in several Volvo advertisements, and his latest ad shows just how he uses his Volvo XC60 to train for the court. The highlight is Lin shooting free throws out of the sunroof.
Since leaving the Knicks, Lin has lost some of the visibility and hype that attracted Volvo to him in the first place. Still, commercials must be made, so check out Lin's latest below.

Volvo Pure Tension concept folds solar charging pavilion into trunk

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Even by the 'anything-goes' standards of concept cars, this one is a head-spinner: the "Pure Tension" Volvo V60 Pavilion, commissioned by Volvo Italy and winner of the Pure Volvo Pavilion Design competition. The alien form seen hovering all over the rendered V60 is a pavilion, as in the kind erected for trade shows or outdoor events. Developed by Synthesis Design + Architecture, Buro Happold, and Fabric Images, the pavilion is a flexible mesh structure held in place by a carbon fiber rods.
What's more, the mesh is embedded with photovotaic cells so that the pavilion can absorb energy from the sun or indoor lighting, making it a portable charging station. It can power itself or the crossover, the V60 at the center of it all being a diesel hybrid that plugs straight into the pavilion. When it's time to go, the entire structure can be folded small enough to fit in the trunk of the car.
We're told it will be shown in September in Rome. Even if we never see this particular creation on the streets, it's comfortable proof that our future will eventually be wilder than we can imagine.
