1971 Volkswagen Vw Type 3 Squareback Vintage on 2040-cars
Tacoma, Washington, United States
For sale is my 1971 Volkswagen Squareback. 4 -- speed manual transmission. The color is Shantung Gold per VW. This car has its original paint with the exception of the driver door and the passenger fender. The interior is original and in absolutely exceptional shape. Dash has no cracks. Carpet is original. It even has the Wolfsburg rubber floor mat that covers the flooring in the front seat. Door panels are perfect. Headliner is perfect without any imperfections. I did purchase a new rear rubber mat as the original one had a tear. Interior dome light works as well as the key buzzer. This car was a radio delete car and still has the chrome fender plug. Windshield has a few star chips but I believe it is the original windshield. Fuel log from original owner + owners manual.
The floor is original and in excellent shape without any rust or patches. The body is in exceptional shape with the usual door dings. The only rust on the car is a quarter size spot on the bottom of the right fender. This car starts every time and runs and drives exceptionally well. Cruises nice and smooth at 60-65 on the freeway. Recent repairs: Front shocks Dual Weber carburetors electronic ignition rear rubber mat new clutch shift bushing kit new battery new tires I searched very long for a very nice original Squareback as they are becoming difficult to find. Constant thumbs up wherever you take it. Always a Washington State vehicle. This vehicle is sold AS-IS without any written or implied warranty. |

Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.
Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
Touring the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Forgive the ribbon up top - this isn't so much of a Read This as a Look At This. Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites. If you're a fan of the weird and wild, this is a post you'll want to look at.
As RWP points out, this is the larger, but less busy, museum targeted purely at Volkswagen products. The smaller AutoStadt museum, meanwhile, covers a much broader swath, with products from other Volkswagen Group members.
