I have not seen any rust on this rig and i have been all over it.  The engine is an 86 1.6 liter and has a 5 speed transmission.  This was a gas rig and I with some help got it converted to diesel.  I have a button under the steering wheel with indicator light to heat up the glow plugs.  Also comes with fiber glass canopy that fits perfect.  This pickup could use some TLC but restoring it will not take a lot as this appears to me to be the original paint and the box is almost like new.  I have never seen a better box on one.   The front bumper and hood is bent a little on the right side as you should be able to see in the pictures.  The antennae is broke off so it does not pick up radio stations very good.  I have never tried a tape in the tape player but i could.  I put a 2 inch exhaust on this with a small glass pack it makes a little noise when stepped on.  Smokes a little on cold start up and little more when the weather was cold.  The ash tray does not stay closed but is there.  There are no cracks in the dash.

This little rig has good power, for what it is, drives down the road straight, steers great.  The odometer does  not work but the speedometer works good but is slow.    Have questions about this just ask.  I don't think you could find a nicer one, that is this original.  Tires have lots of rubber, look like more than 60% and all matching and i don't see any uneven wear.

Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Look for the 2013 Wolfsburg Edition Passat to hit dealerships in the very near future, priced from $23,495, *not including $795 for destination. Have a look below for Volkswagen's official press blast.

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.
