Hello and welcome to my auction, today you are bidding on a restored rare 1984 VW RABBIT WOLFSBURG edition original southern California car with ZERO rust. To begin with I tore the interior apart and had both the front and rear seats reupholstered to match the original as close as possible, the head liner had to be redone as it was non existant, next the motor was totally torn apart and rebuilt with every thing new including a brand new TOP LINE head, new pistons, new piston rings, rebuilt connecting rods, new main bearings, new rod bearings, all new seals and gaskets, new oil pump, new windage tray,new water pump, all new belts and hoses, new radiator, new clutch , new brakes front and rear, new front strut and upper strut bearings, new battery, new tires ,rebuilt transmission, rebuilt front drive shafts, new motor mounts, etc, etc just too much to list.. The car shifts and drives smoothly thru all 5 gears, the interior is perfect as is the dash which is in very good condition.Every thing works on the car as it should including the speedo/odometer, the car has factory AC but will need a recharge, the car also has a dealer installed pop up sun roof, the car has less than 200 miles since the rebuilt and will need to be broken in gently ,the last time the car was registered was in 1996 so it is not even in the dmv system, I can deliver the car for a small fee to southern California.If you have further questions I would be more than happy to answer them. North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.

Thu, 31 Jan 2013After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). VW pondering low-cost sub-brand for China?
Wed, 30 Jan 2013More detail is being sketched into the Volkswagen Group's plan to launch a low-cost brand for emerging markets. Late last year a German report quoted a VW rep saying that the brand has been interested in building a no-frills car, the kind that would challenge Dacia and Datsun, for a while. With both Proton and Suzuki effectively out of the partnership picture, a report in Reuters suggests VW could go straight to China, developing a car with its joint venture partners and building and selling it there.
Officially, company CEO Martin Winterkorn said the issue of a model for emerging markets would be decided this year but VW isn't any closer to confirming any kind of plan for a car in its portfolio underneath the Up!, remarking to Reuters about the China possibility, "That's an issue we're currently looking at."
