2004 VW Phaeton W12

Well Maintained & Fully Serviced

If you are looking at this ad then I assume that you are familiar with what a great car the VW Phaeton W12 is...If not, here are a some of the highlights. The Phaeton W12 was produced in Germany and exported to the US from 2004-2006...It has a 420 HP/438FT/LB's of Torque 12 cylinder engine that is the smoothest, most responsive I have ever driven. THE W12'S COME FULLY LOADED...There is only one option that was available...Either a 5 seat or a 4 seat package. The vast majority of the W12's came in the 5 seat configuration, & this is one of them. It has Heated, A/C, & massaging seats Front & Rear. It has 4-Zone climate control, factory navigation (with all of the navigation disc's), power moon-roof, an amazing All-Wheel Drive system (the same as the A8 Quattro system), power trunk, adjustable air suspension (all for corners of the suspension & the control module have been upgraded & replaced), & much more. This particular Phaeton has received all necessary scheduled maintenance through either VW , or an authorized VW specialist repair facility. It has been under either factory warranty through VW or extended bumper to bumper warranty through a Platinum Plus warranty via Fidelity Warranty Services. That warranty expired this past February, 2013. A further FWS warranty can be purchased through your local VW dealership if you are interested. I have owned this Phaeton, which is my 2nd W12 in the past 3 years, for just over a year & it has been a fantastic car. The tires on the stock rims are new with less than 1k miles on them, and the 2nd set of wheel's have Bridgestone Blizzak's with approx 3k miles. The front & rear brakes are also new (5k miles on them), & both rotors & pads have been replaced. All of the original books, maintenance records, both keys, and Phaeton logo VW original rubber winter mats are included in the sale. This is a now 3rd vehicle for our family & is rarely driven. Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car

Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
