PLEASE READ ALL! This is a 2005 Volkswagen Passat TDI Wagon. Loaded with wood trim, leather, heated seats, sunroof. The car has new tires, and a new battery. There is a problem with the transmission. I do not know if it can be fixed, or will require replacement all together. It will drive in forward and reverse (I drove it home about 10 miles) and from what I am told it goes into "limp mode" after about a minute or so. Basically it shifts hard. Please dont ask me 1000 questions about this, this is all I know! Assume that it needs a new transmission. I purchased this car under the promise that a friend would repair it for me. He has proved unreliable, and I am tired of waiting. I purchased a new timing belt/ water pump/ idler kit for it as I was going to have my friend do this as well to be safe. This will be included with the car. It starts and runs well, and has 155k. I tried to show in the pics, there are a few dings, and the seats show a little wear. A very nice looking car, but with regular "family use" wear. It doesn't appear to have any major leaks or other obvious problems. The fuel door has a tab broken off, so it doesn't pop open when you hit the button, you have to open it by hand. This is what I know about the car...I do not know if this or that has been replaced. It is clear that it has not been abused, and is a nice looking car. You are encouraged to come take a look. Located in Stratford, CT. Must be picked up within a week of the end of auction. $1000 deposit due within 24 hours of auctions end, or it will be relisted. I recommend that it be towed/ trailered. I did drive the car home, by I cannot speak for it's long distance reliability. I can transport the car up to 100 miles for a fee, but this must be arranged and discussed prior to auction end. Sold 100% as is, and it is described as accurately as possible. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.

Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe Concept is an aspirational Jetta

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Meet the Volkswagen baby CC. Okay, that's not really it's name (VW calls it the New Midsize Coupe Concept), but this sleek, four-door coupe draws more than a little inspiration from the CC while riding on VW's MQB platform.
It's a looker, we think, and is an eye-pleasing departure from the bland styling of the current Jetta. The sleeker front end is complemented by a wider body overall (it's wider than a Passat), while the more sporting roofline and the sharp rear fascia gives the New Midsize Coupe a decidedly sporting character. LED head- and taillights add a bit more personality to this already stylish design.
Thanks to its 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, it should get along rather sportingly, as well. The run to 62 miles per hour takes just 6.5 seconds thanks to the 217 horsepower on offer. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is also fitted, and contributes to an estimated 37 miles per gallon.

VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
