tow hitch receiver is installed, black headliner just done, tan leather interior driver seat has some rips for the most part good for age. I have several extras that go with this car let me try to think of them all. Black dashboard, 17" take 5 vw beetle wheels, spare trunk lid that does not have a spoiler or spoiler holes, Rare aftermarket side mirrors wrapped in carbon fiber and matte black vinyl, rare good looking side skirts unpainted, rare rear window spoiler wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl, Bently repair manual, stock air intake, stock coolant hose, stock aux water pump (still good) billet aluminum "crack" coolant pipe, stock radio, That is about all I can think of right now but if I find something else ill throw it in with the deal. I put a Alpine am/fm media player radio in this car and the wiring was tricking to maintain the factory bose amp but it is a professional quality install. I have many documented receipts for service, repairs, and parts that I keep in a folder and you will get them all. The roof is wrapped in a digital camouflage printed vinyl w/ paint is dead logo ghosted into it. The hood had a "gangsta granny" vinyl wrap from a Paint is Dead music video shoot from 201wrap aka identity design feel free to youtube it its awesome. But I pealed the hood wrap and there is still some adhesive residue on it that can be cleaned off. The car is tastefully and minimally modified. The windows are tinted a little on the dark side but I have never been pulled over for them. I drove this car from tampa to Jacksonville from Jacksonville to savannah many many times and from Jacksonville to texas 2 times never had a problem on any of those trips. This car was my daily driver from the day I bought it till I would say the middle of 2013 when I bought a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4x4 then I still drove the vw just not as much. I do a lot of hunting and when on a alligator hunting trip a "friend"s truck was stolen so I let him use my car to get back and to work. When in his possession it started a coolant leak so the car went back to my vw mechanic and they fixed the coolant hose leak that ran to the oil cooler and replaced the oil cooler gasket also. The same day my "friend" picked up the car from the mechanic he called me and said it started leaking oil so the car went back to the mechanic but his insurance check came in and he bought a used truck and left my car sitting at the mechanic so I had to pay the $40 to get the car from the mechanic since they said the oil leak was not from them working on the oil cooler and they suggested I tow it home so I rented a uhaul and towed it home. The car still starts runs and drives but with the oil leak the mechanic recommends fixing it before driving it on a regular basis. The mechanic thinks its from the timing chain cover also thinks timing chain guide may be broke but did not give me a 100% diagnosis with out paying labor time for a proper diagnosis. I have a MK6 Jetta for my wife and that will have to fill my vw fix as I just want to call it a day with this mk3 every time I look at it I just get real frustrated thinking how my "friend" screwed me over. I am a Eagle Scout and in Boy Scouts as a leader with my son and I like to look for the best of people and give them the benefit of the doubt and not think of the negative, call me na?ve I guess but at the time my friend and I were close we did a lot of hunting together and he just got full time custody of his son and landed a new good job after loosing the job he had because he did not make it to work when his truck was stolen, even his own mother would not loan him a vehicle and the thing that kills me is since he bought his truck I have not heard a thing from him. The Sunroof track broke but I replaced the entire sunroof and will also give you the old sunroof as the glass is still good in it. The odometer messed up and I had to replace it with one showing about 13K more miles than the car really has I have documented the miles that were on the odometer that was removed and the one that replaced it. Oh yeah the car has a newer shark fin style antenna. The cruise control did work but has stopped my vw mechanic thinks it could be the stalk control unit. The heater core is bypassed because the outside plastic broke when my mechanic was putting on the samco hoses. The ac and all worked great when loaned to my friend. Headlights work, tail lights work, blinkers work reverse lights work, windshield wipers work, fog lights work driver side is missing the lens cover between the fog and turn light. The power windows work other than the driver rear does not but that reminds me that i have some extra power motors w/ regulators for the windows. I have the owners manual. The car is being sold as is and has no reserve! This car has great potential to be a hot VW just throw some air ride on it and a nice set of wheels and boost it ... oh Ill even throw in a Holset Big Turbo if the bid gets over $2800.00 so Bid away! Please contact me if you have any questions. Non-refundable $500.00 deposit due with in 24 hours of end of auction. Paypal is the payment method. Contact me for more pix and info. |

VW exec calls US ops a 'disaster'
Thu, 23 Jan 2014Today in the Tell Us How You Really Feel file we have Bernd Osterloh, head of Volkswagen AG's Group Works Councils and member of the company's supervisory board, labeling the company's US operations "a disaster." Why? Because Osterloh believes VW of America doesn't have the models it needs to be competitive here, hasn't been decisive enough about its plans and German higher-ups still don't understand the US market.
In truth, the top labor rep at the German conglomerate is echoing sentiments we've heard from VWoA executives for years, and there's been the same commentary from dealers: Germany doesn't pay enough attention to what the US market really wants. Even ex-VWoA CEO Stefan Jacoby, who preceded the recently departed Jonathan Browning, said early in his tenure that one of his tasks was to get his German bosses to start delivering what the US market demanded. New CEO Michael Horn is saying much the same thing seven years later, telling Sky News that it has to increase "the speed at which we bring new models to the market and innovation to the market."
Osterloh wants to get "more models" here, including a pickup truck, but we'd wonder if the economics have changed from when Jacoby said they'd need to sell 100,000 per year to make money. Osterloh also wants a decision on where the CrossBlue will be built. Although it looked as if the Chatanooga, TN plant would get the call, the Puebla, Mexico plant is still in the running because of lower operating costs. No matter what happens right now, Osterloh thinks the situation won't get better for another two years when revamped models arrive, but at least the company can start taking the steps for a better US future.
Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]
Thu, 10 Jan 2013Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.
Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept
Mon, 14 Jan 2013As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.
