********THIS CAR IS VERY RARE!! ONE OF ONLY 47 MADE!!!!!! THIS IS A VOLKSWAGON JETTA ECO DIESEL VERY RARE VERSION OF CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGY THE VW BROUGHT TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1991-92. THE JETTA GL ECO DIESEL WAS SOLD FOR 2 MODEL YEARS. 1991 AND 1992. BUT IN BOTH CASES IT DID NOT ENJOY A FULL 12 MONTHS STAY ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. THE ECO DIESEL FIRST ARRIVED IN THE SPRING OF 1991, AND A TOTAL OF ABOUT 750 ECODIESELS WERE SOLD IN THE 1991 MODEL YEAR. ALL OF THEM WERE MANUFACTURED IN VW'S HOME FACTORY IN WOLFSBURG, GERMANY, FOLLOWING THE TRADITION OF PREVIOUS DIESEL-POWERED JETTAS WHICH WERE ALSO MADE EXCLUSIVELY IN GERMANY, 1991-MODEL JETTA ECO DIESELS WERE AVAILABLE IN A FULL SPECTRUM OF COLORS, INCLUDING GREEN, BLUE, GRAY WHITE, RED AND BLACK----ALL WITHE GRAY VELOUR SEATS AND BLACK DASHBOARDS. VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.

Sun, 31 Aug 2014Volkswagen is not messing around when it characterizes its new MQB architecture as modular. It's already underpinning the VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia, and will soon form the basis for many more. And here is the latest.
Unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show in China this weekend is the new Volkswagen Lamando, a four-door coupe similar in size to a Jetta but with the svelter roofline of the larger Passat-based CC to go after the Mercedes-Benz CLA. It's essentially the production version of the New Midsize Coupe concept that previewed its arrival at the Beijing Motor Show this past April, and will be built locally for local consumption by VW's joint venture with SAIC.
Power comes from either a 1.4- or 2.0-liter turbo four mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with an equivalent price tag below $30,000. Whether this or any similar vehicle ever arrives in North American showrooms remains to be seen, but we'll be watching to find out. VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
