Here I have a 2003 Volkswagen GTi 20th Anniversary Edition in Jazz Blue with 49K on it!

This car is in excellent condition all around. The VW Recaro seats look brand new and the interior is in perfect condition. This car is quite a rocket! (Stage 3+). Under the 20th badge, on the dash there are 3 gauges, a Boost gauge (reading up to 25 psi), an oil pressure gauge and an oil temperature gauge. These gauges have been professionally installed above the radio. The car is lowered on APR Ground Control springs with Bilstein shocks. The ride height is significantly lower than stock but not jarringly low. The car has had a full upgrade on Brake pads and drilled rotors from ECS tuning in order to provide more than enough stopping power. As for the engine modifications this car has an APR stage three system upgrade.  The engine is pressured by a Garrett GT28RS turbocharger, otherwise know as the disco potato. This is the one of their most famous turbochargers that Garret has made. It has upgraded software and fuel system by APR. A larger Front Mounted Intercooler from APR supplies a cooler air-charge to the motor, it is visible in a few pictures on the ad. Due to this a Larger Air Flow Meter was put in place. The fuel pump has been replaced with the fuel pump from a Porsche 911. The car is water/methane injected. The clutch has been upgraded to a Stage 2 with a light weight flywheel. It has a 3 inch down pipe and a 2.5 exhaust by APR. the car sits on the original 18' OZ Aristo wheels. The wheels are in near perfect condition, there is no curb rash on any of them. The car grips the road with a set of Michellin Pilot Sports. This car has been given a black top paint job meaning that the top of the car was painted metallic black along with the 20th AE spoiler. The front grille has been painted Jazz Blue as well. This is quite the car, it currently produces roughly 350 horse power at the front wheels, it is not a kids car. There are a few scratches on the car, one on the hood and on the front valence from the previous owner. These are very minute however are noticeable up close. The driver's "A-pillar"  has a small dent.  Lovingly assembled and cared for, this car has not been tracked or abused.  It is looking for  a new, responsible owner.

Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits

Wed, 15 May 2013

The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.

UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
