Very Striking And Attractive Vw Vangon Westy Conversion on 2040-cars
Encinitas, California, United States
The pictures tell a pretty good story, really clean van with almost new paint and a really striking color coordination with the top/wheels/interior. My description gets shorter because I keep doing something wrong and have to start over again and my frustration is making the description shorter. The van has the electric windows and they work and the electric side mirrors. New tires with possibly a thousand miles on them. Van passes smog so the engine is in good shape, rebuilt at some point,I have no paperwork to support this. The trans works as it should. Van needs nothing to be enjoyed right now. The top canvas is new and has the nice 3 window layout for better cross-ventilation. The upholstery of the rear seat/bed is a very appealing material that color coordinates with the curtains etc.Normal westy layout, stove works, water works, refrig is used as an icebox (could work, I never tried) If you are looking for a really nice westy that is a bit out of the ordinary as far as looks is concerned this may fit the bill.

Volkswagen Cross Up! aimed at rugged lifestyle folks, complete with plastic cladding
Wed, 06 Mar 2013If you thought there was nothing wrong with the Volkswagen Up! that a little body cladding wouldn't fix, you're in luck. VW has officially pulled the wraps off the production version of the Cross Up!, and its wheel arches and rocker panels are full of the black plastic cladding you've been yearning for.
In addition to the "particularly rugged design and tough, lifestyle qualities" that the cladding exudes, VeeDub has also seen fit to put its Cross Up! on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 185/50-series tires. Inside, there are new kick plates to go along with a dash pad that can be had in red, black or silver.
All that cladding must equal additional off-road readiness, right? Well, sure... just so long as you're fine with the same 75-horsepower three-cylinder engine that all other Up! models also feature, along with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels, again, just like all other Up! models. The Cross Up! appears to have a taller ride height than other models, but we haven't been able to find out what - if any - changes have been made.
Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union
Sat, 30 Aug 2014The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.
