PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING

Up for auction is a 1974 Bus in good shape for a 39 year old midwest vehicle. I purchased as a project, however the engine was in far worse shape than I initially thought, the rod bearings were gone and took the crank out with them. This was much more time and expense than I was looking to invest, therefore I'm selling the bus as is without engine. It's an automatic transmission and the flex plate will be included so even if you have a engine out of a manual trans bus, you'll be able to fit it without issues. I purchased it based on the condition of the bus as you'll see is not perfect, has bad spots but is no rot box, not even close. I took pictures of the bad spots and also the underside so you can see the floors and outriggers are still solid

Interior is mostly complete, except the missing drivers door panel and the bolts to secure the middle seat to the floor. All the Rubber mats are in good shape and still flexible and rubber, not dried out or brittle. The seats are decent, front seats are nice, back seats are okay but have a couple spots the vinyl is giving way. The Battery tray in the engine compartment needs replacing, the previous owner ran battery cable extensions into the cabin for a battery so you could use those if you'd like but that's why you'll see cables in the picture in the rear of the vehicle.

Brakes still work just fine, trans seems okay but I can't verify as I never drove it under it's own power.

would be a ideal candidate for an electric car conversion

If you have a rusty bus that could use a resurrection this could be your ticket, it's a great bus and with an engine, should be a great cruiser for someone.

any questions feel free to email me at tomco13@comcast.net

thanks for looking and happy bidding

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
