1970 deluxe....manual shift, very solid bus, lowered but not narrowed( spindles, adjusters, and horseshoe plates,no notched/cut frame),1600 single port with new pistons/cylinders and pushrod tubes. Doghouse oilcooler, all new brakes(wheel cyl.,shoes, ebrake cable) and lines. Clutch cable.New Cooper tires 195/70/14...185/60/14. New tie rods, ball joints, drag link, steering stabilizer, front shocks. New starter, rebuilt carb,points/condenser. It runs great and drives nice. I just did a rust repair under the windsheild.I also did a repair to the doglegs, which included the inner doleg where the bumper step side bolts to. Its looks like it was painted once.....the roof should be white. I originally was going to paint the whole bus.....I wanted to start with a solid body. I need to put a cement floor in my garage and finish my 67 splitwindow westy....thats almost done. I drove to michigan to get this one because it was very solid, mostly I see buses in this condition out west. Its still needs some rust repair. Its has a 2014 inspection and ive been driving it all summer......i did want to get a steering box from Wolfgang Int. so that the front end/steering parts would be completely new. You can see the orange high temp sealent on the barrels.....i havent seen a drop of oil on the pavement yet.

This is a very nice bus.....ive been through it top to bottom.  Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Jason

Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."

Get ready to Camino-ize your fourth-generation VW Jetta with this kit

Tue, 05 Aug 2014

Inexpensive, small pickup trucks used to be everywhere in the US, whether they were from Japanese brands like Datsun or Toyota, the truly weird Subaru Brat or even from Europe with the Volkswagen Caddy based on the Golf. These days that market has completely disappeared, but if you're willing to pick up some tools to build your own, there's a company out there bringing the Caddy back as a kit for the Jetta.
Mark Smith knows a thing about building a vehicle at home. He has over two decades in the DIY-car business as a co-founder of Local Motors and the company that became Factory Five Racing. His latest venture is Smyth Performance and already offers a mid-engine, VW-based kit called the G3F. His new product, though, started as a fluke. "I just wanted a shop truck," said Smith to Autoblog. He already had a Ford F-450 but found that he was driving around with the bed empty most of the time. The result was a pickup truck based on the fourth-generation Jetta that he dubbed the Ute.
The kit retails for $3,500 and ships in three, big boxes, and it's designed to be built and painted in a weekend. Buyers get fiberglass exterior panels, a fiberglass rear window surround, sliding rear window, an aluminum reinforced bed with a tubular steel subframe, taillights, a fully functional steel tailgate, and other parts. In the end, you get a vehicle with a six-foot bed and a payload of around 700-750 pounds. The Ute maintains all of the factory suspension, fuel tank and emissions equipment and requires just a few cuts in the body to complete. "We did a modern Caddy," admits Smith.
