Here is a gorgeous 1967 restoration project that I've been working on since October of last year.

This bus is a Kombi with Sundial Interior that has been completely restored inside and out!

The bus was professionaly repainted to a dual tone (It was originally all green). The paint job is absolutely stunning. The green is beautiful and vibrant as you may be able to tell on the pictures.

I am particularly proud of the interior which I recreated magnificently! The wood panels are brand new and are a perfect reproduction in size, shape and color of the original Sundial ones. The seats were also entirely re-upholstered with light beige vinyl and additional white pipings.

The engine was completely taken apart, cleaned and put back together with brand new seals. All parts are original. (The engine compartment is omitted because I am curently in France where I had to rush for family matters. A friend of mine in Los Angeles recently took these pictures while I'm gone and forgot to snap the motor. I'll be back late June and will upload a couple as soon as I get back. I also just need to crew the signal switch back on as well as finish a small interior panel at the rear of the bus )

2/3 of the front of the bus was also rewired with brand new wires as well as the rear lights and blinkers.

This bus is filled with original parts such as bumpers, dashborad buttons, windows, wheels, steering wheels, lights, etc

I will gladly take some video clips of me driving the bus around when I get back.

I'll also be happy to sell it internationally in which case I will use Direct Express Inc and will ship the bus out of Long Beach, CA to anywhere in the world.

Thanks for looking!

Bentley considering diesel engine for new SUV

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Turns out, in case you didn't know, the rich are just like regular people. They too are concerned about the environment, even when tooling around town in their super-luxurious Bentleys. So the automaker is weighing the idea of offering a diesel engine in its SUV offering, which could help satisfy customers' demands for more fuel-efficient engines.
Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Schreiber told Autoblog in a roundtable interview at the Geneva Auto Show that the automaker is researching whether or not a diesel engine makes sense for the brand. Bentley, owned by the Volkswagen Group, could in theory use a diesel engine from anywhere in the Volkswagen Group family. We at Autoblog have hopes they'll revive the V10 TDI used in the VW Touareg until 2010, but ever-stricter emissions laws would likely make that problematic.
But rich people aren't so much like us that they'll be worried about petty things like pricing. Schreiber admitted the diesel engine could be a $15,000 option, which he said customers would probably find "acceptable." Given that the cheapest Bentley today starts at $177,000, typical customers probably won't be diddling around worrying about an extra 15 grand.

Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.

Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.
