Selling a beautiful 1964 VW Deluxe 13 window Bus.  We have just finished all the mechanical work and paint on this bus.  Here are some highlights:

- Clean Title
- Properly Lowered 3 1/2"
- Just painted with PPG Single Stage "Sealing Wax Red" and "Beige Grey" original colors
- New high performance 1776cc Motor with under 5k miles
- New Transmission
- New Brakes
- New Interior Panels
- All original glass
- New seals for the entire bus (windows, doors, popouts, etc)
- Full deluxe trim on entire bus
- Original Front seats (new seat covers), Original Deluxe Rear Seat, Baywindow bus middle seat
- Powder coated 15" Bus rims with ultra low profile tires
- New Starter & Battery
- New rubber floor mats Front & Rear
- New Luggage bars (jail bars)
- 12 volt

The bus does have a few things that are not perfect- the headliner is tattered looking especially around the windows, bumpers are dented in spots, rear seat has original cover which is tattered, dome lights and fuel gauge aren't currently working.  Wiper arms are not included, and the heater is not hooked up.

Bus doesn't have any rust at all, front floors were patched and rear floors replaced before we received the bus.  Whoever welded the rear floors in chose to use the cheaper reproduction floors, which work fine but feel a bit thinner.  The paint has some dings and scratches from storage, and the bumper paint looks a bit lacking.

The motor runs super strong and pulls great- transmission shifts properly in all gears with no slop, and the lights and electrical work as they should.

This is a great bus- don't let it slip by!

$500 PayPal deposit required immediately- balance of the payment due within 3 days via bank deposit or wire transfer.  If you cannot pay for the entire bus within 3 days after buying it- I will keep the $500 deposit and relist the bus for sale.

Will help ship worldwide- shipping from L.A. to Europe is about $1200-1500 USD

Volkswagen looking to acquire Proton, Lotus?

Thu, 26 Jul 2012

Let's say you're an automaker bent on world domination looking to grow your sales. That's going to have you looking at Asian markets, because that's where some of the biggest growth has been, and that's exactly what Volkswagen is doing as it considers making another run at Malaysia's Proton.
Reuters reports that Volkswagen is interested in at least a partial stake, if not a controlling interest in Lotus-parent Proton as a way to continue a production presence in the region without having to build its own factory.
Volkswagen already builds the Passat in a DRB-HICOM facility in Pekan, Malaysia, and plans are in place to build the Jetta and Polo there, as well. With both southeast Asia and its relationship with Proton figuring so importantly in Volkswagen's plans for expansion, buying into Proton can help ensure stability. Volkswagen is being tight-lipped about the whole idea, but CEO Martin Winterkorn did recently say, "it's our clear goal to continue the successful (expansion) course of past years with great dynamics and stability," which sounds an awful lot like deals are on the table to smooth the path to further growth.

Updated J.D. Power APEAL study shines on VW Group, Chevy

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

J.D. Power has just revealed the results of its 2013 APEAL Study, which looks at which brands have the most appealing cars based on sales figures, dealer inventory, brand loyalty, transaction and trade-in prices. The study was revamped for 2013, and places a larger focus on the new tech and infotainment options available to customers. All told, study participants gauged their vehicles on 77 different attributes, delivering a score out of a 1,000 points.
The Volkswagen Group had the greatest success of any corporation, topping the APEAL rankings with the Audi Allroad, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayenne, VW GTI and Passat. Chevrolet had the highest number of awards for a single brand, though, with the Avalanche, Sonic and Volt all taking home a prize.
The best brand overall was Porsche, which scored 884 out of a possible 1,000 points. The top Japanese brand was Lexus with a score of 847, while the top American brand was Cadillac, at 841. The best mainstream brand was Ram, which received a very respectable 817. The industry average for this year's study was 795, with 16 brands, all of which were mainstream, falling below the average.

Volkswagen considering a four-door, four-seat XL1

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

According to a report in Autocar, Volkswagen might have more in mind for the XL1 than mining it for advances to grace the next-generation Golf. Aiming to fight the Honda FCEV due for public consumption next year, we're told VW executives have put a four-door, four-seater version of the XL1 - it could be called XL2 - on the drawing board. The impetus is said to come from the top, with VW Group chairman Ferdinand Piëch intent on staying in the deep end of "super-efficent vehicles."
Autocar suspects the necessary changes could raise the weight of the car from 1,749 pounds to 2,068 pounds, which would make it four pounds less than the 2,072-pound Up! we drove a few years ago. Crucially, however, the mag thinks the extra capacity wouldn't change the two-seater's 310-mile-per-gallon rating, with tech tweaks and the aerodynamic benefit of a longer car offsetting the weight. Speculation is that the back seats would be staggered like the fronts in order to maintain the XL1's overall profile.
We recently heard about another XL1 variant that's gone off the radar entirely, the Ducati-engined XLR that we thought we'd see at the Geneva Motor Show and that was said to be going into production, so this one could go the same way. The biggest hurdle to making such an idea a reality, though, could be the price: the current XL1 costs 110,000 euros ($146,116). If VW really is going to compete with the Honda FCEV and the Toyota FCV - $70,000 in Japan - that might be where it wants to start.
