First, what we do. We are a small specialty shop and buy, sell and repair VW TDI's. In business 45 years. All cars are bought from new car dealer trade in's and some privately from our customers. All cars are checked on carfax before purchase. Each car is brought in shop and completely gone over, all mechanicals are brought to as new condition, all electronics are tested, engine is tuned on VW VAG and vehicle is road tested for 1000 miles. Body and interior are gone over and repaired as necessary, detailed and hand waxed. Basically we are restoring these cars to as close to new as possible.

Now the car, let me walk around. Body and paint in excellent condition (nice color), a few small stone chips below front bumper and 2 small parking lot dings in LF door. overall looks new. I spent a day striping with silver stripe to match wheels, stripe is vinyl and can be easily removed with heat gun. Rear spoiler is factory option. No pits or scratches in glass. Wheels in excellent condition, tires are Goodyear eagle with 50% left. Nice power moonroof. All rubber trim is excellent with no drying or cracking.

Looking inside car. Nice all leather interior in excellent condition. leather covered steering wheel, Car has winter package which includes heated seats (nice on that cold morning).Headliner and all interior trim excellent, no broken parts. Great sounding Panosonic AM/FM CD with cable coming out at console for your MP3 device.

Driving car. Starts instantly, no smoke, no warning lights. On the road at 80, let go of wheel, goes perfectly straight. no vibration at speed, no rattles or squeaks. lots of power, suspension tight. Off highway ramp car brakes straight and ever, Suspension is tight, all shocks and struts perfect. Maybe I should keep this one, nice TDI's are getting impossible to find. 5 speed manual shifts as new and clutch feels great.

A new timing belt and water pump were installed at 90k, I replaced some front end bushings and strut mounts, They were in good condition but I find new bushings make the steering feel more precise.

Give me a call if interested with any questions, I also have 15 early TDI's  that are being ready for sale,  takes a week to go over a car and make perfect for delivery. I have a few beetles and Jetta's, a Golf and a wagon available.

I do get a little more for my cars, but you are not buying a problem car and will not have to spend money fixing after purchase.

Thanks for looking

BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."

VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC

Sat, 22 Jun 2013

Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
