Herbie California Look on 2040-cars
Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States
Herbie Tribute with a real VW roof rack included in case you just want the California Look without the Herbie decals.
The car has a Professional Paint job completed just 4 years ago. The 1600 Engine was rebuilt by a local VW shop that has been in business for more than 30 years. The car was completely disassembled and sandblasted. Solid original pan that matches the clear Idaho title. Solid heater channels. The typical small areas of rust near the front and rear wheel openings were removed and repaired with new metal by the professional paint shop. New window gaskets, window felts and door gaskets were replaced with new items. Installed over $3,500 of new parts from Wolfsburg West in a four year build project with my son. Here is what we did together. Installed a New Interior with new seat pads and electric heated seats! New headliner professionally installed. New Door panels, rubber mats and Fatman Soundproofing, New fuel lines, New gas tank,New brake pads front and rear. New metal and rubber brake lines. New German master cylinder, New Bigfoot brake & clutch pedals, New cables, New clutch, 12 volt flywheel, New axle boots, tie rod ends and ball joints. New Retrosound Digital Stereo with ipod input port. You can find the entire step by step build of this VW on our club web page. Zetaboards VESI or email me and I will send you the link. This Volkswagen drives great and with the new motor can cruise at highway speeds with ease. It also sounds amazing with the performance exhaust. I will answer any questions and send more photos by request. |

Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012
Sun, 13 Jan 2013The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.
Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products - increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."
Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.
VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.
VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.
