This is an immaculate 3rd owner 1974 V.W. Beetle (Bug)

We are selling this vehicle due to the fact we are moving out of state and we have too many vehicles to transport. As you can see by the photos this immaculate 1974 VW Super Beetle has been garage kept, and treated like one of our babies! I have done so much to this vehicle over the past few years that it is virtually impossible to name everything. The ENTIRE body is still all ORIGINAL, absolutely no replacement panels at all, this car is all original steel, not fiberglass replaced panels!! The paint was done back 3 years ago and is in great shape. There has been no attention to detail left out of this restoration, as we intended on keeping this vehicle for our kids one day, however we simply have too many vehicles to transport for our move.

The mileage on the odometer reads 94900, however all of the upgrades, and restoration to the engine were done at 84200 miles. (Truly there is right around 11000 miles on the vehicle since all the upgrades have been done).

The interior is completely stock with the exception of: Oil Pressure gauge, Tack-o-meter, and Voltage Meter, which you can see on the dash photos. It still has the original White Headliner in the vehicle with absolutely no rips, and is in great condition. The seats are all original with no tears or rips. The carpet and insulation has been replaced thru out the entire vehicle as the original carpet was showing signs of wear, and we decided we wanted to have it look like it was showroom quality.

The engine was completely rebuilt back in 2010 by Mid America Motorworks and some of the upgrades to the peppy little VW are as follows: New Big Bore Pistons and Cylinders, Rings, and Lifters. There is a new 110 Cam, Bearings and Even and New Crank. New Rockers covered with New EMPI Valve Covers. New Large Capacity Oil Sump Kit which adds 1.5 extra quarts of oil to increase oil supply, prevent oil starvation and increase cooling by far. New Upper and Lower Degree Pulleys, New 009 Distributor with Electronic Ignition and the Expensive Plug Wires (This in Another Detail that makes a Huge difference that so many people leave out of their restoration). New Bosch Blue Coil, Easy pour Angled Oil Filler, New Dual Manifold with Brand New Very Costly Webber Two Barrel Carburetor. There have been brand new jets installed and fine tuned by Motorworks, to feed the carburetor correctly. There is a New Electronic Fuel Pump (Mounted Under the Gas tank up front) and New Fuel Regulator Set at about 2.5. New Baffle and Hardware. As you can see I have all of the Specialty Cooling Tins installed on the motor that are so important that so many decide not to do. Of course, all New Gaskets, Seals, Bosch Super Plugs, Wires, Bolts and all the Hardware.

The Chassis on the vehicle has had the following upgrades and modifications done to make this beautiful vehicle even safer to drive on a daily basis. The Transmission was removed, Cleaned, Drained, Filled with New Gear Oil and then reinstalled. There are New Axles and all four Brand New Shocks were installed. Every brake component was replaced with New OEM Factory parts from Dual Master Cylinder, Four Brand new Wheel Cylinders, New Reservoir, to all New Brake Pads, and Shoes. Needless to say, it will stop on a dime. The Entire front end was removed, Serviced, Seals Greased, Cleaned, and Re Installed with all New Tie Rods, Tie Rod Ends, and a New Steering Stabilizer. I had Mid America Motorworks do a full Wheel Alignment including Camber ad Caster for that smooth straight ride. I put Brand New Aluminum 8 Spoke Rims, Brand New Starfire, Sport Metric 165R15 tires on this year.

You will be very hard pressed to find a cleaner V.W. online or anywhere else, as meticulous care and effort have went into every step of this restoration.

Should anyone have any additional questions or want to see any additional photos, please email before bidding. I would rather have ALL questions answered prior to anyone making any bids on my baby!!

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?

Volkswagen considering a four-door, four-seat XL1

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

According to a report in Autocar, Volkswagen might have more in mind for the XL1 than mining it for advances to grace the next-generation Golf. Aiming to fight the Honda FCEV due for public consumption next year, we're told VW executives have put a four-door, four-seater version of the XL1 - it could be called XL2 - on the drawing board. The impetus is said to come from the top, with VW Group chairman Ferdinand Piëch intent on staying in the deep end of "super-efficent vehicles."
Autocar suspects the necessary changes could raise the weight of the car from 1,749 pounds to 2,068 pounds, which would make it four pounds less than the 2,072-pound Up! we drove a few years ago. Crucially, however, the mag thinks the extra capacity wouldn't change the two-seater's 310-mile-per-gallon rating, with tech tweaks and the aerodynamic benefit of a longer car offsetting the weight. Speculation is that the back seats would be staggered like the fronts in order to maintain the XL1's overall profile.
We recently heard about another XL1 variant that's gone off the radar entirely, the Ducati-engined XLR that we thought we'd see at the Geneva Motor Show and that was said to be going into production, so this one could go the same way. The biggest hurdle to making such an idea a reality, though, could be the price: the current XL1 costs 110,000 euros ($146,116). If VW really is going to compete with the Honda FCEV and the Toyota FCV - $70,000 in Japan - that might be where it wants to start.
