This is a scratch & dent, semi-rat rod, beach buggy sale.

This is a fun project that, when tweeked, will beach friendly everyone that sees it.

Previous owner installed a new gas tank, tires, chrome rims, battery, & both steering idler arms.  He was not going to install the a back seat (he used it more for trade show wood samples demos of wood buildings he builds).  A good back seat comes with it including new matching vinyl seat covers that are shown only placed on seats for demo.  They will need to be stretched completely before install if new owner chooses to do so.  The brakes do work with no leaks, but have not been bled (still has air in lines; good enough for transport loading-not driving home).  The front doors close snug/tight & their windows wind up easy.  Comes with three standard VW rims, 2 boxes of parts.

Clutch & transaxle are very good.  The engine starts & runs good (starts by turning the key with a push button between the front seats).  The motor has not been run much in the last two years.  It has some new valve push rod tubes.

Items that need attention: finish brake bleed process, some lights are not working, generator light is on, windows need install  (glass not furnished) for the back four sides & tailgate back frame (a creative person may find other artistic/surfer venues to fill in).  I thought of faux wood look water proof mini-blinds w/wood pull close back slats to hold closed.  Water proof is only needed if you have to be out on rainy days.  Or plexiglass?  Beach towels with picture themes stapled to both insides & back, work for me.  Some back shelf interior trimming will finish it off( was going to staple moving pad blankets over the shelf wood).  Some decorative finishing wood trim would be each artisen's choice.

The Vehicle ID number on the title matches the windshield factory plate.  It is a Florida title.

This can be a great prop for business (bar, beach shop, wood furniture biz).  Dune buggys cost more than this.

GM outsold VW globaly in first quarter, Toyota reports numbers next week

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

General Motors released its first quarter sales figures this week, reporting that it sold 2.36 million cars and trucks worldwide. That figure represents an increase of 3.6 percent when compared to the same period last year. GM's growth was attributed to many factors, including global Cadillac sales that were up 26 percent and Chevrolet posting a one percent increase over last year (this marked Chevy's tenth straight year of record global sales).
Volkswagen came in just behind GM, as the German automaker reported global sales from January through March at 2.27 million vehicles, an increase of five percent when compared to last year. While that number was strong, VW is cautioning that markets outside China and the US, such as those in Europe, are becoming a challenge as economies falter.
Yet to report sales is Toyota, current holder of the global world sales crown (the Japanese company sold 9.75 million cars last year, against 9.29 million sold by GM and 9.1 million vehicles sold by VW). Even though GM and Toyota both say they don't care who sells the most units, it is unquestionably a strong bragging point and sales equate to revenue. That said, Toyota will report its first quarter numbers next week.

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
