1972 Triumph TR6 Convertible

Restoration work 99% completed Jan 2014.

I love this car, but am 6’4” tall and physically do not fit well behind the wheel comfortably… my knees are against the dash so it not really a comfortable ride for me, if I keep it I will have to find excuses to not let my kids use it, and I don’t need the arguments!  It needs to find a new home.

The car has been rebuilt from the frame up and is in near showroom condition.  The frame was stripped/sealed and painted before the body was re-installed.  Body is totally rust- free and finished in English Wellington White.  Rear –end panel is flat black. Currently has no decals, pen-stripping or badges (Red TR6 Decals and Red or Black pen stripping tape included – British Layland badges available if desired.)

Engine was professionally serviced and included replacing the rear thrust washer, turning the crank shaft (.010) installing new main (.010) and rod (.010) bearings, replaced front and rear engine seals, rebuilt carburetors, replaced all hoses and installed all new ignition components.  Radiator was pressure checked and flushed, new thermostat and water pump were installed.  Cylinder compression checked with all cylinders  at 140 +/-  5 psi.

Clutch Disc and throw out bearing replaced when transmission was inspected and serviced.  Seals replaced on the rear differential and axle shafts.  Rear end was boxed (no cracking apparent prior to boxing) and new poly mounts installed on front and rear.

Brakes have been totally redone with new brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and pads.  Rotors have been turned and the seals in the calipers have been replaced.  Braking system operate  with Silicone Brake fluid.

Custom interior fitted, interior panels of 1969 design with sewn pleating and TR4 style door pulls as opposed to the molded plastic upper pulls in the 1972 design.  Because of my height I opted to install low back seats and head rests with new webbing, foam and covers as opposed to the original high back seats (original high back seats are included but need new webbing, foam and upholstery).  New padding and carpet installed.  Accessories include new stereo system with CD player, satellite radio and receiver jack for MP3 player, speakers mounted in knee panels under dash with wires for rear speakers run to the rear deck.  Installed an under dash cigarette lighter/power jack.  Did not install the rear curtsey lamp to dash switch opting to keep the switch available for fog or driving lamps.

Car has standard TR6 wheels with new tires and spare. I can switch the standard wheels out with 60 spoke wire wheels w/wing knockoffs (powder coated in brite silver) for an addition fee.  Do not have a usable 60 spoke spare but will throw in a 48 spoke wheel which can be used in an emergency.  Also have a black fiberglass removable hardtop available.  It has a pebble finish but needs to be re-sprayed.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
