Offered for sale is a beautifully restored 1974 Pimento Red Triumph TR6 Roadster. The last of the "true" British sports cars. She is powered by her original inline 6 cylinder engine with upgraded Weber carburetors and original 4 speed gearbox. Stunning to look at, luxurious to sit it, fun to drive and an exhaust note that is music to anyone's ears!

This example underwent an extensive cosmetic restoration in 2011 which included completely disassembling the body, stripping all exterior sheet metal to bare metal and professionally repainting (base coat- clear coat) in original Pimento Red.  All body panels were completely removed and painted separately from the body tub then professionally reassembled and aligned. Body fit and gaps are nearly perfect. All weather stripping and rubber seals were replaced with new. The large black rubber bumper guards were removed and the bumpers were re-chromed (I still have the black rubber guards if you want them). The interior was re-trimmed with all new seat cushions, springs, covers, side panels, carpets, solid teak dash, dash panels and center console from Moss Motors.  The convertible top was replaced in 2001 and is in very good shaped. No holes or rips and the rear window is usable. It is not new, but very presentable and very usable. The car also comes with a  very nice black tonnue cockpit cover. Also in 2001, the floors were professionally replaced with heavy gauge steel spanning the entire length of floor and cleanly/precisely welded in place and seal coated. Solid as a rock; they will survive WW3!

Mechanically, the engine was rebuilt in 2001 and a new clutch and exhaust installed. Less than 5,000 miles on the rebuild. Spring of 2012 the differential was removed, new seals, bearings and rubber mounts installed and differential mounting pins inspected. At the same time all 4 tires were replaced, new rear road springs installed, hydraulic shocks serviced, all new engine hoses, radiator flushed, fuel tank flushed, new alternator, new battery with kill switch, and new brakes installed all around.

Overall, this is a stunning example of a classic British sports car that any Triumph "purist" would be proud to own. Like all Triumphs, there are a couple small bits to disclose to the new owner. Everything functions on the car except for the hazard flasher switch. I believe the switch needs replacing because is very stiff to actuate and the contacts are probably broken. The transmission up shifts and down shifts beautifully through all gears but sometimes has a light chirp going into third when shifting very quickly from second. Delay the shift a half a second and it's as smooth as butter. I have a complete spare transmission that goes with the car if wanted. This car is very reliable and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I took it on a 450 mile trip in June 2013.

Included in the sale is the spare transmission mentioned above and a set of original beauty trim rings for the wheels (not currently installed on the car). There is light road rash around some of the edges that may polish out.

This is my first time listing an item on eBay. I've tried to describe the car as accurately and honestly as possible. I'm located 30 miles west of Chicago. Anyone is welcome to come inspect and drive the car. If you need more detailed pictures of anything, please just ask and I'll be happy to send.  I have the clear original title in my name.

A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due (certified bank check) within 3 days of the sale. The full sale amount is due within 7 days and must be paid through certified bank check or cash in person. Shipping is your responsibility, however, I am flexible storing the car for a couple weeks while you arrange shipping. The car is sold as-is without a warranty.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
