Offered for sale is an exceptionally original, one owner, numbers matching, final model year example 1976 Triumph TR-6 with just 49,000 original miles. Finished in wonderfully era-specific, rare and factory original Java Green, this example has been fastidiously cared for, always garaged and maintained, and is consequently fantastically preserved. Used as a daily driver for the first five years of its life, the owner opted to keep it as a weekend driver for the ensuing thirty years, driving it sparingly and only in good weather until his death in late 2012. At that point his estate made the car available through a broker with whom we have a relationship, which is when we were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to acquire it.

The Java Green finish is one of the best available on TR-6s and it cloaks a body that's straight, free of dings or dents and retains excellent panel fits and consistent gaps throughout. All of the glass, chrome and rubber is in great original condition, the deep-dish wheels are wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread and the soft top is in great shape. The car’s interior is also in excellent condition, the original vinyl seats, interior panels, dash and carpets showing negligible wear for its 37 years. The wood inlay in the dash is original and exhibits a light patina, yet is entirely presentable. The car also comes with three spare polished wheel rings, a boot cover and a full tonneau cover.

When the key is turned, the tried and true 2.5L inline 6-cylinder engine fires right up, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. The car drives and brakes straight and provides the wonderfully visceral and prototypical British sports car ride quality for which the TR-6 is renowned. I recently took the car for a jaunt down the coast to Malibu and it performed famously, exhibiting excellent power and performance without any indication of overheating or anything else out of the ordinary.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an honest, final year example of the TR-6 that has everything going for it: a one owner car with low original miles, finished in a rare and desirable color, strong and correct mechanicals, solid undercarriage and a body in excellent aesthetic condition. If you’ve been in the market for a crisp, fun and sure to appreciate British roadster, this car deserves your serious consideration.

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed.

We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic personal collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell things to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Triumph TR-6 (if the price is right, of course - this isn't a fire-sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re not experts and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
