I have up for auction a very original, well maintained '73 Triumph TR6. I purchased this car from the 2nd owner 18 years ago. It has been garaged and religiously serviced throughout it's entire 41 year life. As you see in the pictures & included in the sale are the original window sticker & invoice, original Passport to Service booklet w/original metal ID plate, original British-Leyland AM-FM radio manual, original owner's manual & Warden Motors folder, dealer brochure, lots of receipts for parts/repairs, the original jack & tools and front license plate brackets, near perfect original aluminum anodized wheel trim rings, original tonneau cover, convertible top boot and several other items. The original trim rings shown are not installed because I did not want to scratch up the new silver wheel paint and I like the 'no trim ring' look. This car has 91,800 honest original miles. It is ready to enjoy and drive anywhere as I have, albeit sparingly. I have spent many hours and over $13,000 over the past 18 years in an effort to keep this car original and functional. I am 62 years old and worked on British-Leyland cars at Koster-Swope Imports back in the early 70's.  I can assure you this car has never been "bad-wrenched" as some you see with much fewer miles. I will list most of the major things I've done to the car but this list does not include every little thing; First of all, this very early production car still has it's original engine and drivetrain. The engine has never been apart! The compression reads 130-125-125-135-130-130 psi in order starting from the front #1 cylinder. I've just completed a major tune-up including rebuild & balancing of both original Zenith-Stromberg Carbs, valves adjusted, new VC gasket, new plug wires, new plugs, points, rotor & cap. Also all new hoses, both high & low note Lucas horns, new radiator shroud, new battery, positive battery cable etc., etc. I replaced the clutch 1,000 miles ago-new clutch disc, new PP & TO bearing & rebuild of the slave & clutch master. At this time all fluids we're drained or flushed. I use only Castrol brake fluid & oils! The brakes have been serviced also; new flex hoses(all 4), new front pads & rebuild of master cylinder. This car runs, drives, shifts & stops like new! Everything works on this car and works correctly. Oil pressure is over 50 lbs. @ idle (cold) and 25 lbs. @ idle (hot) with 55 lbs. @ 4000 rpm (hot). The engine warms up and reaches 180 degrees quickly and never runs hotter! The engine is clean and tight. It may leak a couple of drops after sitting for several days-pretty normal for these cars even when new. This car is rust-free also. I had a local body shop (Mannings) do a bare metal respray in the original Pimento Red. This is a very high end body shop that does beautiful work. This paint job in basecoat/clearcoat was done over 15 years ago! It still looks brand new! In full disclosure, there are (2) flaws-one on the trunk edge the size of a pinhead and one ping on the front hood the size of a Q-tip end! Neither are very noticeable and I would have to point them out for most people to find them! The paint condition is show worthy. I also had both perfect original bumpers and the luggage rack re-chromed at the time of painting. I also replaced every possible piece of rubber (weatherstripping) at this time. Everything interior wise is new including a walnut dash from Prestige Autowood. The wood dash alone cost $500! I even replaced the trunk panels and trunk carpet. The Michelin redline tires still have at least 3/4 of the tread left with no cracking or dry rotting. Also the exhaust is completely new from the manifold back! The convertible top is a new Robbins top from The Roadster Factory(where I buy almost all TR parts). The top has the zip-out rear window & reflective stripes as it had when new. Just installed last summer. It fits and looks great! You will not find a better taken care of car that needs nothing. I'm only selling due to health reasons. Please bid to own-Thanks!

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
