This Spitfire was going to stay with a while as it was the replacement for my beloved TR250 ( triumphowners website number 381 ) which I sold a couple years ago. My involvement with a new project a few years ago was one of the many reasons for the sale, only to fall to this temptation. But now my head is clear and the Spit has to go. It's a Connecticut car that came with a small stack of receipts from a previous owner who kept it from 1977 to 2003, who also had it painted in 1995. It still looks good and is in very good condition with no rust holes anywhere. The body has a couple paint chips but other than that you can tell from the pictures it still shows well. The bumpers although straight and without dents need rechroming as do the door handles. The wheels and tires are very good. The convertible top is also in good serviceable condition, but the tonneau cover that came with the car has a tear in it but can be used as is. The car came with a Parrish hard top (rounded shape) painted in the same color, but the attachment points need attention. In the interior the driver seat will need new foam and seat cover because of a couple tears, the passenger side looks OK. The carpet is in very good condition and the floors are solid. The dash top has a couple cracks that show in the pictures, and all the gauges work. The horn worked but decided to stop. The front rubber bumperettes were missing (they keep the grille in position, that's it seems slightly off in the picture)but a used set resides in the boot.I have owned this car over a year, but haven't registered it to my name yet, but in the meantime I purchased a new battery, installed a rebuilt wiper motor and shift repair kit and replaced the bonnet stay rod assembly. The brakes will probably need new pads. I have described this car the best I can and I hope you see that overall it is a good car. In my possession is the bill of sale to my name since the state of Connecticut does not issue titles to vehicles older than 1974, and I will write a bill of sale to the new owner.  Good luck.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
